Who:Brooke Maddox Megan Collins and Kol What: Megan being an awkward hot mess and meeting Kol. Where: Verdant When: Saturday evening Warnings: Language and pretty much Kol is the main warning in this lol. Status: Closed/Completed Gdoc
Megan still found it unnerving to have people mistaking her for someone else, but she felt much more comfortable in the new outfits that she had purchased. Covering up more than some of those other outfits had and less high heels was definitely more Megan’s speed than this Brooke girl people kept calling her. Normally, she’d be out with her best friend who’d be trying to set her up only for it to fail miserably. Megan was not looking to have any potential suitors, but she was in the mood to grab a drink and maybe make some friends. Deciding on hitting up Verdant cause it was the type of place her and her best friend would’ve been at after a long day of work.
Sitting at the bar, Megan had been debating about ordering another drink but then remembered the walk home wasn’t a long one. Ordering herself another Malibu Sunset, she thanked the bartender who had mistaken her as Brooke before pushing a piece of her blonde hair out of her face. She was dressed in some comfy jeans and shoes with a cute top that had a tiny kitten on it. Thankfully, Megan had made enough of a fool of herself after the last guy who came to hit on her that she seemed to have turned all men off of her and onto others. That was fine! Picking up her drink when the bartender brought it over, she took a sip before placing it back on the bar.
Unlike Megan’s other suitors, Kol was far from easily dissuaded by awkwardness or kitten tops. After compelling his latest bourbon off the bartender, the original vampire walked over and, without asking if the seat was taken (he knew it wasn’t, he’d been watching her for some time), Kol sat down on the stool beside her. Yes, she looked like Brooke, but Kol had seen enough to know she wasn’t Brooke. For one, he doubted Brooke would be caught dead in a top with a tiny kitten on it. For another, the woman had made a fool of herself in front of the few guys who had attempted to talk to her. It was adorable, if not a tad pathetic, but Kol was curious, so he turned to look at her, allowing his eyes to trail down her form which was still visible in her comfortable jeans and kitten top.
“Hello, darling,” he greeted smoothly and then leaned in just close enough so that only she could hear him. “I can’t help, but wonder if I can make you purr like that cute little kitten on your shirt. I think you’d enjoy me trying.”
Megan glanced over when someone sat down next to her, and her mouth dropped open for only a brief moment before quickly closing it. Reaching for her drink to take a sip and keep herself from saying anything that may come off as weird. He was super hot and she couldn’t understand why he was sitting down next to her. And she could feel his eyes trailing down her body causing her to shift slightly uncomfortable from the attention. She wasn’t used to people giving her that type of attention, choosing to avoid it. Yes, she may die alone. But she was fine with it and had come to terms with it for the most part. Then again with the piece she had to write for her magazine, and the amount of dates she needed to have, the romantic side of her was hoping for one good one. Though none of that mattered right now with being stuck in some town she never knew or seen before in her life.
His comment caused her to cough up the drink she had and spill a bit on her. Quickly wiping it away as she turned beet red from his comment. Megan didn’t even know what to say to that! “I..I..” she could not get words out for a moment, which was definitely going to keep the attention of some guy. “I..umm oh wow, I mean that’s a sweet offer.” She wanted to kick herself when the words left her lips. Sweet offer? Oh god, her friend was right, she was hopeless even more so when this good looking man was pretty much doing all the hard work of flirting.
At the sight of her coughing and spilling a bit of her drink, Kol had to try very hard to stifle the chuckle lurking in the back of his throat. It had been quite some time since he’d received that kind of reaction from a girl. She was certainly all discombobulated now, wasn’t she? Adorable, really, It was probably a side of Brooke he would never see again so he was going to savor every single second of it.
Stuttering around, trying to find the right words, but Kol had just short circuited her. He waited, keeping his dark brown eyes on her face until she managed the sentence, but not without an “umm” in it. Sweet offer? What? Kol was amused by this clone Brooke. He reached out and carefully peeled her fingers away from her drink, taking hold of her hand, and running his thumb over the knuckles slowly.
“So, is that a yes, darling?” Kol asked, tilting his head as he studied her nervous expression. Her heart was going so fast; it was like a rabbit’s heart. “I don’t think you want to disappoint me, would you?” He pulled her hand to his lips and kissed the back briefly.
Megan had guys come on to her before in the past. Sometimes it was them using her to get close to her best friend, and other times they were interested in her. Also, lately people thought she was someone else. Oh god what if this was some very kinky game he had with the person she looked like? Then again she didn’t see anything in the closet that had a cat on it so maybe not? Should she ask? Probably but that also meant words had to come out that were making her look like a complete idiot. Quite hard when she was pretty sure she could say no guy had ever flirted with her like this guy had. “This may be a very odd question,” she started, turning slightly in the seat before turning back because she felt like her heart was racing way more than it should when looking right at him as he was looking at her. “You’re not thinking I’m someone else right?” Please say no because she would probably be a bit jealous of this other person based on the amount of very good looking people she knew and had no problem talking to if they kept coming back.
When he reached out and took her hand away from the drink, she couldn’t help how dreamy she found the man. How cute was it that he was running his thumb over her knuckles? She was pretty sure that stuff only happened in the movies? Or maybe just none of the men she went on a date with ever thought of doing it? His question caused her to snap back to reality. “Yes to what?” She asked for a moment before wanting to kick herself once again. “Oh yeah, I mean no, I mean I don’t know.”
Right now Megan could really use her best friend to know what she should do. Shifting in the seat, she felt like one of her characters from a romance book on the way he was kissing her hand. So polite. Minus the way he had come on to her, but she could look past that. “No, I wouldn’t want to do that, but maybe we can get to know one another first. For all I know you could be trying to get me somewhere so you can sell off my organs.” Yes, Megan because that was definitely a way to keep a date around. At least, she hadn’t given any fun facts yet because she got herself all nervous. Why couldn’t she be more like her friend who had no problem hooking up with a guy after only getting a name or drink? Nope, Megan couldn’t do that for a whole lot of reasons.
Kol knew this girl was not Brooke and he had approached her on the pretense that she wasn’t. Oh, it was a fun little game messing with her, but it wasn’t because she was Brooke. It was because she wasn’t that he was having this much fun tormenting her. “No, luv. I know you’re not Brooke,” Kol answered simply, giving her a disarming, reassuring smile. “I knew you weren’t her from the moment you told me how sweet it was that I wanted to make you purr like the cat on your shirt. Which, by the way, also made it pretty obvious you were not Brooke.”
“I mean I don’t know.” The answer was priceless. Adorable. Kol relished in it before turning his attention to her and her words once more. Sell her organs? Well, she was a creative one, wasn’t she? Thought far too much. Maybe he should make her stop thinking for a moment; her heart beat already told him how nervous she was, but maybe he could have it beating for a completely different reason.
“I can assure you, I don’t want your organs, darling,” Kol replied smoothly. “But I will tell you my name if you will be so generous as to share your own.” Kol intertwined her warm fingers with his cool, pale ones as he continued to speak. “I’m Kol. What’s your name?”
Megan listened, and had many questions popping into her head. Some weren’t exactly helpful or needed at that exact moment, but that didn’t stop them from coming to her head. Of course, this hot guy seemed to know of this Brooke people kept mistaking her for at first. Or a few had until they got a better look at her. Not that she was at all surprised based on the outfits she saw in the closet for whoever this Brooke was. Though he seemed to know she wasn’t her, which made her both glad and a little curious. “From what I’ve seen in her closet and from other people, the clothes tend to be the dead giveaway. More power to her on feeling way comfortable to walk around in those heels and outfits,” she respected the other woman, but there was no way she could do it. She glanced down at her drink, turning red at the reminder of her awkward and ridiculous answer to that, but he had caught her way off guard. “We can forget all about me saying that. But yeah, the bits I’ve gathered it wouldn’t be her answer of choice.” Megan was pretty sure her answer wouldn’t be most unless they were awkward like her.
Just kill her now! There had to be a place for her to crawl under and hide until closing time, right? Or a way to sneak out before she made herself look like a complete fool? Definitely probably one this guy will remember because he probably has never dealt with a complete mess like her. Oh god! She knew girls wanted the guys to remember them, but not for something like that. Megan really needed to stop before she dug herself into a very deep hole. Then again no fun facts had left her lips so maybe it wasn’t as bad as she felt?
“I’m pretty sure that’s what they all say and then organs go missing,” she was only joking, and she hoped the guy realized that. “But I’ll take the chance that you really don’t want my organs, and hope it doesn’t come back to bite me. I’d really hate to end up on the news or a Dateline episode.” Her tv viewing varied, especially when she was busy baking in the kitchen after a long day of work and needing to get her mind off of things. Megan nodded to the whole sharing her name, ignoring how cold his hands were. Could be an illness and she wasn’t going to put the poor guy on the spot like that. “Nice to meet you, Kol. That’s a very unique name, and I’m Megan. Are you always forward with the ladies like you were with me?” Megan thought about adding or am I just lucky but nope, she couldn’t do it.
Oh, Kol was so not going to forget the whole “sweet” comment. It was too hilarious to forget. As it was, at the mention of him forgetting it, he had to fight down the urge to laugh. This was far too much fun; he really shouldn’t be playing with her, but it wasn’t in his personality to walk away from this perfect opportunity. Besides, she was cute in a nerdy, awkward, shy way. Despite that comment and her worrying he was out to steal her organs. Well, he might be out for a taste of blood, but that was a far cry from ripping out her heart. What good would she be if she was dead after all?
“I assure you. I don’t want your organs. Perhaps a taste of your blood…” Kol trailed off, briefly allowing the words to hang in the air before he gave her a playful smile. “I’m kidding, darling.” Mostly kidding. He was curious what she tasted like and the way her heart was beating so fast in her chest was turning the predator on in him, but he kept it under control. For the moment.
“Megan. It’s a pleasure,” Kol replied smoothly. He released her hand and touched her face, brushing a piece of hair behind her ear. “Only the ones I find attractive. Alluring. Desirable.” Kol leaned in and allowed his nose to brush hers; he wondered if she tasted like Brooke had or if she’d kiss him completely differently. His thumb shifted to her bottom lip.
“Would you do me the honor of letting me kiss you? Please, darling.”
Megan couldn’t wait to tell her friend about some of tonight. Oh, she definitely didn’t need to know about all the times Megan probably made herself look like a fool, but she knew her friend would already suspect it from past times at the bar. The fact the guy hadn’t run so far or she hadn’t run, needing some help on what to say or just her friend was a big step. Maybe not for many, but for her it was. Her friend would be shocked to know how Megan somehow didn’t crash and burn too badly with a very hot guy like the one in front of her right now.
Her eyes widened with a very small hint of concern and maybe a little bit of fear on his comment about blood. Allowing the breath she had been holding to be let go on his kidding comment. “That isn’t funny!” She replied, hitting him playfully in the chest with her free hand. “I think you almost gave me a heart attack on not knowing whether you were joking or having a very twisted sense of humor. I can work with the twisted sense of humor, but not right after thinking you might take my organs,” she reached for her drink, taking a sip to shut herself up before saying something stupid that might have Kol rethinking his time spent in that seat. Telling herself she was fine, she was letting her brain run away with her, and to relax.
Leaving her glass alone, she focused back on him, losing herself for a moment on his very handsome face. A small giggle left her lips before she could stop it, kicking herself once again when his cool fingers touched her face, pushing a piece of her blonde hair back. Someone just kill her! Please! His vocabulary was quite attractive, noticing most men around her age used hot, smoking, and other words that weren’t all that impressive. Her heart stopped or came close as he leaned in, wanting to close the distance, and Megan then felt her heart racing. His question had made her feel very hot, nodding in fear if she actually opened her mouth that she’d say something stupid. Megan leaned forward and pressed her lips very softly against his. The kiss was gently and brief before she pulled back. Pushing her hair back as if it had fallen nervously, needing something to do for the moment cause part of her wanted to kiss him again. She had planned on saying how she wouldn’t mind another one, trying to be smooth, but this was Megan and yeah, that wasn’t what happened. “It’s a shame we’re not in my city. I think the ladies and maybe some of the men would be foaming at the mouth to read about you in one of my dates of the month article,” Megan couldn’t believe that was what left her mouth rather than what she had been thinking. Great, now she had to run with that, and hope he didn’t get pissed or freaked out like some dudes did over the article. Not that he was going to be in it, but for some that didn’t matter. “Also, that was a really good kiss.” Really, Megan? It was an amazing kiss! Why couldn’t she be smooth like other people in her life.
And then she kissed him. Kol was surprised at her boldness given how meek and awkward she was, but he was far from disappointed. For however long the kiss was, Kol returned it, forcing himself to keep it gentle and light. She was like a deer; any sudden movements and she might end up scurrying away from him. He couldn’t have that, not when he was having so much fun with the little mouse.
His dark eyes watched her push her hair back, clearly a nervous habit, before she started speaking again. Kol listened, eyes never leaving her face, and his hand settled on her thigh; yes, he was bold, but he wanted to see if she would do anything to stop him as he gently rubbed the jean with his thumb. Her mention of her article did draw his attention though if only because it certainly fed his ego. Too bad there wasn’t such a thing here; he would certainly love to see the faces of all those twats who took shots at him upon his arrival.
No, nevermind, he’d rather rip them to shreds himself.
“Too bad you can’t write it here. I would love to read it,” Kol purred in return. Her mention of how ‘good’ the kiss was had him chuckling and he leaned in, his other hand coming up to stroke her cheek again.
“That was only a taste. Let me show you the full experience, darling.” Kol’s nose briefly brushed hers before he pressed his lips against hers, this time far more passionate than the brief touch of lips they’d had seconds ago. In seconds, he deepened it, a hand moving into her hair.
Megan was also quite surprised, and now was already kicking herself for doing that. What was she thinking? Anyone who knew her would be surprised by how she had kissed the guy, and she was including herself in that whole surprise. But she also knew her best friend would be cheering for her and claiming how proud her little girl was growing up. Probably the bravest thing she ever did in her life…well maybe after this article she was writing because it sure as heck wasn’t the type of piece she wanted to be writing.
Of course this guy had his hand on his thigh. Megan was pretty sure he knew how to make girls swoon and how to get their heart racing. Hers sure as hell was. Considering his opening comment to her, she wasn’t surprised on how bold he was. Shifting slightly, she moved her leg to cross one over the other. She knew if she allowed him to do that, then she might end up doing something stupid again, and she was trying very hard to avoid that. Not that he was making it all that easy with his handsome face, his forward attitude, and his very sexy voice. Megan wasn’t used to hot guys like him sticking around her for long. Either she chased them off by accident or they ended up wanting her best friend once they saw her.
“I don’t know if it’d be your type of article unless you were only wanting to read it for your own section. Honestly, I’m glad for the time being cause not exactly big on the whole idea of going on that many dates, then maybe having to write how bad the date is if it was because I need to be honest.” There was also the whole part on Megan being a walking disaster and the idea of having to date these guys put her way out of her comfort zone.
Megan didn’t pull back right away, enjoying the kiss way more than she should. When he deepened it, her hand did go up to rest on his cheek, returning the kiss. But then she snapped back to reality and pulled away, feeling very flush from that kiss and speechless for a moment. She might be clueless when talking to guys, but she could tell he knew exactly what he was doing and was trying to get her all flustered. “Maybe you should take me out sometime,” Megan offered. Definitely not something she did, but she wasn’t completely sure if he’d take it. He might just enjoy getting her all worked up, and if he was, then she was fine. Cause from what someone told her she wouldn’t be here that long anyways.
Kol noticed how she shifted her one leg over the other, but he wasn’t bothered by it. From how fast her little heart was going, it was clear to him that his goal of flustering her was accomplished. Game. Set. Match. He even got her to put her hand on his face while he kissed her and when she pulled back, there was a visible flush on her cheeks. Kol considered it a win; while she attempted to gather her thoughts, he merely watched her. It was so much fun to watch her struggle to figure out what to say next, especially since Brooke would have never struggled at all.
Finally, she managed to speak and Kol listened intently; he could take her out, but part of him figured she might not be here too long anyway. Especially since it seemed she’d taken Brooke’s place and not arrived on her own accord. He reached out and took her hand, kissing the back of it.
“Whenever you’re free,” he purred in response. He ran a thumb over the knuckles once more before releasing her hand. He somehow felt as if she wanted him to refuse the offer, but Kol wasn’t like that. He wouldn’t back down regardless of how awkward Megan was around him; he was just…stubborn like that.
“Unless you’d rather I press you up against this bar and have my way with you right here and now.”
Megan was not used to this type of attention from…well anyone, but especially not a guy as good looking as the one sitting right next to her. This was way out of her comfort zone or what she was capable of handling on her own. No matter her best friend was always near for back up or to make sure she didn’t do anything stupid, but without her, Megan felt even more on edge cause she knew she wasn’t the best when it came to hot guys. None of the books her friend told her to read were helping, and Megan right now felt very much in the deep end since this guy was so charming. Also he was very good at leaving her speechless and her heart racing. Even right now when she was reaching for her drink, she could feel her heart racing a mile a minute.
A hint of red came over her cheeks, which seemed to be happening a lot during this interaction, but it happened once again when he took her hand and placed a kiss on the back of it. Honestly, she was torn on whether she wanted him to accept the offer or not. Cause on one hand she did it all herself, but then the bigger part was the idea of going on a date where it gave her many more chances to look like a complete idiot. All of which was the last thing she wanted. “Right now, I have nothing but time. We’ll need to figure out a night that works,” and Megan hoped maybe he’d forget. She did not want to end up a complete fool in front of him, which she was sure would happen on an actual date. Which she’d need to do some shopping for something more…her cause nothing in that closet would be anything she could wear on a date and be comfortable. Not even the heels that this Brooke seemed to enjoy wearing. How that girl did it? She had no idea.
Her mouth dropped open before she quickly tried to shut it when he suggested the idea of having her right against this bar. “There are people around,” she choked out as if that was the only problem but oh she could think of plenty of others. Like that was never something she’d do. Maybe the other person who people thought she was, but it was definitely not something she’d ever do even if the idea sounded like a good one. “As umm tempting as the offer is, I’ll have to pass this time,” and everytime, but she was being very polite, “maybe after I get to know you.” Nope, Megan couldn’t see her ever agreeing to anything like that unless he owned the place and it was way after hours, but even then the chances were a big nope. “Though I should go since it’s late,” or at least late for her. “But yes, umm we can definitely schedule a date at some point to get to know one another better.”
When her mouth dropped open, it took all the self-restraint Kol had not to chuckle. Clearly, this girl was inexperienced in flirting or sexual advances of any kind. Not that he minded in the least. It was what made this entire venture worth his time after all. He wouldn’t have approached her otherwise; Brooke would have been able to field his advances without effort. Where would the fun in that have been?
“Of course there are. That’s what makes it all the more fun, darling,” Kol replied smoothly. “What’s the point if there weren’t?” Though he knew already from her expression that she was going to refuse him. Her saying after she got to know him was only her attempting to be polite and Kol, after decades of hitting on the opposite sex, knew she was letting him down easily. It didn't matter to Kol; his objective was accomplished as far as he was concerned.
“Yes, you should. I wouldn’t want you to turn into a pumpkin or something because you were out past your curfew,” Kol responded playfully, his dark eyes glittering with amusement. “I look forward to hearing from you.”
