Unfortunately, Rory struggled to make friends. Since she didn't age, people might start to have questions. So, she found she preferred time with the adults in her life, like her Auntie Maze, or with Charlie her cousin. Of course, in this place, she and Charlie differed in age by more than a couple years.
Rory did think of her friendship with Tess as random, but she liked the other woman. And no, she didn't think of their friendship as one sided. Tess obviously went through some emotional trauma, and needed a friend sometimes.
"Thanks Tess. How are you?" Rory smiled at her friend. Close enough to her birthday to still count, if nothing else.
"Not gonna lie, but the beignets have been calling my name all day," Rory admitted as they walked into the restaurant.
