As grateful as Vala was that Adria's time in Madison Valley was short-lived, her presence had stirred up a lot of emotions that she managed to suppress for quite some time. It was silly, she knew from a logical standpoint, that she thought she could sway her daughter away from the path the Ori created for her and yet, Vala couldn't stop wondering if there was something she could have said or done to make Adria realize that she was wrong and want to change. Some part of her daughter had to be her, not the Orici, and why couldn't that part be strong enough to overcome the programming she was created with?
Having the day off meant that Vala lingered in bed longer than usual and wasn't expecting her fiance to still be home when she finally shuffled downstairs in search of coffee. "Daniel," she said. "Shouldn't you be at work?"
