Who: Logan E, Leo D, Veronica What: date night Where: V’s/Leo’s house When: Sat. night Warnings: TBD, but possible allusions to sex Status: closed/g-doc
Logan made his way to Leo’s and Veronica’s house. They planned on a dinner/movie date night. Which meant Logan wore the new jeans Eliot helped him find, but a more casual shirt. He did bring cupcakes with him for dessert.
This week had been fucking terrible. His father showed up in town and, in typical Aaron fashion, terrorized both Veronica and Logan. It brought back a lot of PTSD Logan maybe hadn’t completely handled in his past, but now it landed front and centre.
When he arrived at their house, he knocked, and waited for someone to open the door. Logan didn’t like to just barge into the house, even if he was dating both occupants. Plus, he forgot his key.
When the door opened, he smiled. “Hey. I bring chocolate cupcakes for dessert.” Logan meant to grab wine, but had forgotten, so he held out the cupcakes. His mind, he could tell, wasn’t working quite as well as usual.
“I’ll forgive you making me get up to answer the door since you brought chocolate,” Veronica said, taking the box from his hands and going up on her tiptoes so she could greet him with a kiss. “But seriously, we gave you a key for a reason.”
She wanted Logan to feel comfortable here because he was important to both her and Leo and as far as she was concerned, this was his home as much as it was theirs, even if he chose to keep his own place. “Dinner’s almost ready. Leo’s out back with the grill.”
It really wasn’t exactly grilling out weather yet, but that didn’t stop Leo and Veronica knew better than to argue when he got something in his head, especially when he was determined to do something that would mitigate the trauma they had suffered earlier in the week with Aaron’s sudden brief appearance in town.
Hey, it wasn’t raining. Maybe it wasn’t even fifty degrees, but the grill had enough warmth. And the steaks would be totally worth it.
Leo was humming Walk the Moon’s Shut Up and Dance. It was catchy! That was his story and he was sticking to it.
Which meant, he was kind of dancing as he flipped the steaks over. “She took my arm. I dunno how it happened. We took the floor and she SAAAAAAID!”
Logan looked sheepish. “I forgot the key on my kitchen table.” He had it, but then remembered he hadn’t fed Toast, set it down, and now here he was. Maybe he’d feel like living with them at some point, but they hadn’t even all spent the night together yet, so he didn’t want to invade.
“I’m glad.” He started to make his way to the grill, but then turned around and made his way back to Veronica. “I just got that damn song out of my head.” Thanks to Leo’s making him listen to it. “I am looking forward to dinner though. Is there anything else you need me to do before we eat?”
Living together was a lot and Veronica couldn’t really blame Logan for hesitating to take that step, even if she’d like to have him around more often, especially after the past week when he’d stayed while they dealt with his father being in town. “He’s been singing it for days,” she said, a slightly plaintive tone in her voice as if begging him to do something about it.
“No, I think we’re all good as soon as the steaks are ready,” she said. “Why don’t you go and supervise while I get everything else on the table.”
The steaks were taken off the grill during one of his spins, put on a plate then Leo Cha-cha’d his way into the house.
“I felt it in my chest as she looked at me. I knew we were BOUND to be together. BOUND to be together.” On the emphasized words he pointed the meat fork first at Veronica then at Logan.
“Hey,” he said to Logan with a grin. Leo knew he was the carrier of an earworm and didn’t care. “The grill’s still going if you need to toss anything on.”
Logan liked to spend time with his two favourite people. He didn’t always come over, because sometimes he still wasn’t sure how he fit into this relationship. But, he was feeling better about maybe moving in after staying here the last week. And Toast adored V and Leo.
At the cha-cha Logan shook his head. “Nah, I brought dessert.” He thought everything looked good.
“Dinner with my two favourite people. What else could I want?” And it looked like Leo cooked the steaks to a perfect temperature.
Veronica rolled her eyes at Leo’s emphasis though she didn’t say anything. It wasn’t like Logan didn’t know they had a healthy sex life with each other as well as both having one with him. They still hadn’t taken the step of all three of them together yet though and she was kind of hoping that would happen soon.
“Dinner with your two favorite people followed by getting naked with your two favorite people?” she said, keeping her tone light so she could play it off with a joke if it made either of the boys uncomfortable.
Leo was trying to keep things as light as possible. Logan’s dad had thrown both of his boo’s into emotional chaos. With Logan, he just wanted to protect him. Veronica, however. She’d need protection from herself. When Leo had arrived, Veronica had been doing everything she could to live at the bottom of a bottle. Leo had pulled her back from the brink, With two people he cared about on the edge, Leo pulled out the big guns of being a goof.
“We could reverse the order of that,” he said with a grin. “Priorities.”
Logan went to answer, but his stomach rumbled. “Food first.” He really wanted to eat steak while it was warm. Also it would give him a few minutes to get his head straight.
He’d slept with both of them a few nights, but he generally found himself awake, so he’d cuddle Toast in the guest room. Aaron opened a lot of wounds for both himself and Veronica. And he tried to be there for V, but he found himself almost unable.
“I wouldn’t be opposed to you two naked with me, but I require sustenance first.” That was about as Logan like as he could manage at the moment.
“Of course, we’ll probably work up an appetite, so we’ll need snacks after,” Veronica said. It was easier to make suggestive comments and think about having fun with her two favorite guys than it was to think about the trauma of the past week. Her nightmares had returned and she knew that sleep was likely to be elusive for a while.
She looked between them, searching for any hint that actually being intimate as a threesome was a bad idea and not seeing any.
If asked, Leo would say the three of them would probably end up in one big naked pile of cuddle therapy for as emotional as these two were, but he was up for anything with them. He looked at them both with a smile and how fond he was of them in his eyes.
“As long as nakedness happens at some point I’m all for whatever order you want.” He began to put the steaks on plates.
Logan snorted. “I will be naked. After I eat delicious, delicious steak.” He wasn’t sure how much fooling around he’d be ready for at the moment, but step one was the three of them naked at the same time.
“Thanks for grilling, Leo.” He smiled at his boyfriend and jokingly blew him a kiss. But, in all honesty, Logan wasn’t really sleeping either. And Toast had complained a couple times when he moved her so he could get up and pace.
Watching her boys interact was always adorable and Veronica gave them both a fond look before picking up her utensils so she could cut into her steak. There was a basket of oven-baked french fries and a bowl of steamed broccoli & cauliflower on the table and after making sure her steak was just right, she added some of each to her plate.
“The bed has felt awfully big the last couple of days,” she said. “It might have only been a few days, but I kind of got used to you being there.”
Leo smooched the air back at Logan then grinned. He began to help himself to steak and fries. To hell with the vegetables. Beer. Tatos. And meat. A man’s meal! Grunt!
“Ok but this time I’m in the middle!”
Leo could see the stress at the corners of their eyes and in the tension of their smiles. It was going to take a lot of energy to get their minds off things. “Hurry up and eat.”
“If you want me around more, I’ll be around more.” Logan didn’t want to intrude, but he’d gotten used to being around the two of them and felt lonely back in his apartment.
Logan ate his steak methodically, same as the fries and veggies, although he thought everything tasted delicious. Of course, Logan liked well balanced meals. That’s what they served in the military and it helped him feel a little more in control of things.
He eventually finished his plate and remembered to thank them for the delicious meal. “Next time I’ll cook.”
Veronica gave Leo a Look when he skipped the veggies, but she didn’t admonish him since tonight was supposed to be a chance for the three of them to relax and recuperate from dealing with Aaron. A flash of guilt popped up when she thought of the secret she was keeping from them, but she knew it was better if they didn’t know what she’d almost done.
“I certainly won’t argue with anyone else cooking,” she said. “But next time I’ll bake instead of going with store bought. Speaking of, do we want dessert now or later?”
Leo ignored the Look from Veronica. Vegetables had their time and place. This was not either of those. MEAT!
By the end of the meal he was pretty full, but he knew better than to stuff himself if there was going to be anything other than falling into a nap after this. Leo leaned back in his chair with a grin for them both.
“I thought I was dessert.”
Logan snorted. “You’d probably be more enjoyable than the dried out cupcakes I brought.” He might enjoy cooking, but Logan didn’t particularly excel at baking, so he rarely tried. Although, he could make decent chocolate chip cookies.
“Let’s wait.” Logan felt full and didn’t want to overeat.
“We can clean up this mess later,” Veronica said, pushing back from the table and standing up, waiting for them to follow her lead. “I need some quality cuddling time with my two favorite guys.”
She headed into the living room, grateful that they had purchased a large, comfy sofa with plenty of space for all three of them.
For once, Leo was more serious. He went up to Logan first, gave him a hug and kiss to the cheek then repeated that with Veronica. “You two go get the entertainment set up. I’ll get the big quilt.”
He’d really like to go punch Daddy Echolls in the neck for what he’d done to his two people, but it wouldn’t change anything. Sure he’d feel better, but the problems would still be there. The best he could do was be there for Logan and Veronica when they needed him.
