Who: Rory, Sabrina, and Trixie What: sisters’ trip Where: Paris cafe When: April 7th Warnings: low Status: closed/g-doc
Rory still couldn’t believe Chloe agreed to a trip with just herself, Trixie and Sabrina. As promised, they’d already FaceTimed the requisite amounts with Chloe, and Dan hopped on one conversation before he needed to head out for work.
Today, Rory wanted to start the day at the cute cafe down from the hotel. She needed a caffeine fix and hoped to find some pastries for breakfast. After they ate, she wanted to do what her sisters chose for the day.
Once they arrived at the cafe, Rory breathed in the air. “Don’t tell Mom we’re basically subsisting on pastries while we’re here. But, I want to live here. In this cafe. Forever.”
Being in Paris with her two big sisters and no parents was an amazing experience and Trixie was very surprised that her mom had agreed to it. Her dad was a little more laid back, so it didn’t surprise her that he was fine. “Pastries, cheese, and bread,” she said. “Is there anything else? Not like we’re going to eat snails.” Trixie wrinkled her nose at the mere thought.
They were young and had no need to worry about pesky things like cholesterol or calories. “What are we going to do today?” she asked. There was so much to see and they were already halfway through their trip.
Sabrina hadn’t needed to worry about permission. As soon as she mentioned going to Paris to the uncles her hands had been stuffed with cash. Maybe it was the idea of having the house to themselves, but they also liked to spoil her rotten. Probably a combination of both. Either way, she was at this great cafe with her sisters and her purse full of money.
“Know what a great thing about Paris is?” Sabrina grinned then stopped their waiter on the way past. ”Trois verres de vin rouge s'il vous plait.”
He smiled as he nodded. ”Oui, mademoiselle.”
Sabrina grinned at her sisters. “No drinking age.” Then she giggled.
“We should go to that bridge with all the locks on it and put one on.”
Rory brought all the money she’d made at work, plus tips. Not to mention, both Dan and Chloe gave her money for her and Trixie to spend. Chloe didn’t expect Rory to help with rent, although she did help buy groceries now and again, just to be helpful.
“I think Sabrina wants to go visit the romantic bridge.” If it made her sister happy, Rory didn’t mind, even if out of the three of them, Sabrina was the most into romance.
“Drown the snails in enough garlic and butter? I’ll eat them.” Rory didn’t have a problem with escargots. She didn’t order them, but she wouldn’t refuse if they were placed in front of her.
“Red wine? Tres bon.” She grinned at Sabrina. When the waiter returned, Rory ordered the pastry assortment, plus a yogurt parfait and cafe au lait for herself. She proceeded to pour wine for both Sabrina and herself, and then asked, “Trixie, do you want to try a little?”
The question felt like a trick and Trixie gave Rory a skeptical look, wondering if she was serious. Did red wine even go with hot chocolate and the pastries she ordered? She had no idea. “Yeah, okay, why not,” she said, glancing between Rory and Sabrina, waiting for the punch line.
When it didn’t come, she was surprised, pleasantly so, and it made her feel like both of her sisters really did see her as an equal, despite her being so much younger.
“The bridge sounds cool,” she said. “We should go to that famous cemetery too. You know, the one where that old singer guy is.”
Nope. No trick. Sabrina knew Trixie well enough by now to know she had good sense. None of them were out to get drunk, but it was nice to indulge a little in a place where they didn’t consider you a kid until you were in your twenties. The three of them weren’t what you’d call Party Girls.
She burst into giggles. “You mean Jim Morrison? Lead singer of The Doors. Creator of timeless music. Owner of a mind that was open to other worlds.” Sabrina shook her head. She liked classic rock. “That would be awesome.”
Rory would make sure not to pour too much for Trixie. The last thing they wanted was a day in the hotel because Trixie got sick. But a few sips seemed safe enough and she’d never trick her sister. How mean would that be? Ah yes. Rory liked The Doors, but always forgot Jim Morrison ended up buried in Paris. “I think both of those things sound fun.” She smiled at the two of them, grateful for this sisters trip.
The server returned with the wine and cafe au lait, before she asked if Trixie and Sabrina wanted anything else to go with the wine and pastries.
Trixie took a sip of her wine, her nose wrinkling at the taste. It wasn’t bad, but she honestly didn’t understand the appeal either. Her sisters definitely didn’t have to worry about her over indulging on alcohol. Chocolate, on the other hand..
“Right, them,” she said when Sabrina mentioned the name of the band. She was pretty sure she remembered her dad listening to them so maybe she could pick up some kind of souvenir for him. “We should definitely do this again. Take a vacation somewhere else. Maybe a beach.”
At the mention of a beach Sabrina hummed in excitement. “You think Monaco is on the list? Or maybe Malibu. Someplace sunny. Warm. With hot, rich celebrities.” She giggled. Sabrina was single…AGAIN…so she was feeling a bit lonely on the romantic front.
“We should make a habit of this. The three of us going somewhere together.” It was something she didn’t have at home. There were a lot of things she had here that she didn’t back home.
Rory nodded. Beaches weren’t necessarily her scene, but if it made her sisters happy, she’d gladly go. She shook her head and laughed. Sabrina definitely liked the opposite sex and romance, but Rory didn’t blame her.
“We definitely should. Mom will be happy we had fun and were safe.” The server brought their food over and Rory looked at everything. “We should fill up for the busy day ahead.”
“And we still have a few days left here,” Trixie said with a grin. “I’m so glad I have you both.”
She put her wine aside and dug into her pastries, looking forward to whatever they got up to today and for the rest of their time in Paris.
