Who: Sharon and Alyssa What: birthday spa day Where: the spa When: March 19th Warnings: low
Alyssa had to admit this spa day was exactly what she needed. Between school, work, and her art show, Alyssa hadn’t exactly taken time to relax. And, as much as she hated to admit it, she felt stressed during the time Ned and Peter got sent home. Of course, that didn’t keep her from yelling at Ned upon his return. As much as she loved her surrogate bro, he’d created a rather terrible situation by not giving MJ a head’s up about Liz. Yes, he got sent home, but it didn’t make things better.
At this point, she and Sharon were just starting their day. They were told they’d start with massages. “Sounds good to me.”
After they found themselves under the blankets Alyssa sighed. “Thanks. This was the best idea, Sharon.” Alyssa knew how lucky she was to have so many people in town who loved her.
Sharon wasn’t sure exactly what to do to comfort her new housemates/friends during the awkward times. She had no idea what the boundaries were, or how to approach without overstepping. Still, she could be supportive when she was told what she was supposed to do. And giving Alyssa a great 18th birthday present was definitely something she could do.
Girls’ day at the Spa was a great idea. A complete success so far. They’d had a lovely breakfast, and were settling in for some pampering that they both definitely needed. Settling down under the blanket, Sharon grinned over at her young, blue-haired friend. “It was completely selfish, don’t you know?” A tease. “I just wanted an excuse to get a massage myself.”
Alyssa very rarely accused people of overstepping. Unfortunately for Alyssa, her person for being comforted was Ned, and more recently Peter. Which sucked since they both seemed to be on a sabbatical at home.
The breakfast had been delicious and not too filling, which Alyssa greatly appreciated. “I think you need to be selfish more often then.” She grinned at her blond friend. “Are you doing okay? I mean, you went from living by yourself, to a very full house.” Not that it was full at the moment, but Alyssa had to hope the boys would be home soon.
Sharon gave a gentle chuckle at that. “I promise I’ll try to be selfish more often.” She grinned, turning her face so she could see her young friend as the massage therapists started their massages. Thankfully, the professionals in this establishment didn’t play weird music or try chatting their ears off. They were polite and friendly, but not pushy. Sharon liked that better. She preferred silence or gentle music, not chit-chat while she had a massage.
Oh, she was excited to get to talk to Alyssa. Just not a stranger who was massaging her. Was that weird?
“I’m okay. I miss my little girl,” she admitted, though Alyssa probably knew that already. “But settling into the Bug House hasn’t been hard. It’s a bit busy…” It was actually a little difficult to find privacy there. In the main house there were often people around, and in her bedroom Scott was around. But Sharon didn’t mind that so much. Actually, she was starting to prefer it.
“Good. You deserve to be selfish more often.” Alyssa liked the atmosphere here. The two could talk and not be interrupted, which meant a good tip from Alyssa.
“I understand. I miss TJ, even if he was basically the same age as Kate and me.” Alyssa did have a bit of a crush on her friend, but that didn’t compare to their child. “Your little girl was adorable.” TJ spent most of his time at the Pack house, so the rest of the Bug House didn’t see him as much.
“Yeah, it’s why TJ preferred his time at the Pack house, I think. Our house can be pretty busy.” Thankfully, Alyssa could spend alone time in her room, unlike Scott and Sharon.
Sharon was thinking about how they should make it a standing date. Once a month or so. They deserved to be pampered and have a little girl time. Maybe they could invite May. Bug House ladies out for a massage. It sounded really nice.
“I’m sorry that he disappeared with the rest,” Sharon admitted. She hated that the Dome had given them something so wonderful, and then taken it away as quickly. A sigh escaped her at the thought of her little girl. “I miss her. But… well, maybe Scott and I will decide to have a child, and I’ll get to see her again.”
“It is. Less privacy than I’m used to, but… well, it’s kind of nice to have people to turn to. Someone’s always around to have a snack or watch a movie, or just sit in silence with.”
Alyssa definitely thought they should do this once a month and include May. She liked May, as long as they kept May out of the kitchen. Nothing against May, but the woman did not know how to cook anything edible.
“I’m sorry too. I don’t know how he can exist in any future. He shared both mine and Kate’s traits, which doesn’t seem biologically possible given we are both female.” Alyssa’s voice sounded wistful, because she’d love her son to return. A werewolf who could also speak to the plants and insects? TJ reminded Alyssa how much she missed being a mother.
“I think you and Scott would make great parents!” Alyssa meant it, liking both of the adults.
“I do enjoy having a full house.” Ned and Peter were always up for hanging out if she needed a distraction. “It’s just a lot sometimes.”
“Something to do with magic,” Sharon assumed. “Either that, or there’s some alternate universe where procreation works differently.” She wasn’t sure. Either way, she knew that the children here were magic. Though, Amanda could have been a time traveler. A wonderful, adorable, beautiful, perfect time traveler.
“Aww, thanks, Alyssa,” Sharon said softly. “Maybe that’s in the cards for us someday.” She never imagined it would be possible for her. But here, maybe it was. …though, it might have to be soon. Her body was growing older.
“It is. If you ever need a break, we can always take one together.”
Alyssa could see either option and it actually made her feel a little better. Maybe TJ could exist. God, how much she missed being a mother.
“I hope it is for you two.” For Alyssa, she knew she’d need a relationship first before she became a mother again, but for Sharon and Scott? They were happy adults in a committed relationship.
“Thanks. I’ll definitely take you up on that!” Alyssa closed her eyes for a moment as the masseuse worked out a knot in her calf. “I thought I should start charging that knot rent.”
Sharon was definitely interested. She’d never thought it was possible, and now it was more than possible. It was something that had happened. Something that could happen again. And would, if Sharon had anything to say about it.
“Thanks, Alyssa,” she said, grinning softly. Then she gave a gentle groan as the massage therapist ground out knots in her muscles, too. “This was the best idea. I’m so glad you had a birthday so we could be here. I suppose I owe you more thanks.”
“Of course,” Alyssa responded quietly, slowly losing herself to the massage. “It was a great idea. I’m glad too and thank you.”
