Georgia | Cuthbert
That's true enough, but at home it's...guns aren't so plentiful in my world as in this one. You can't just go down to the market and purchase one. Gunslingers aren't the only folk with guns, even so, and a woman could likely learn to shoot if she had one, but - not like a gunslinger. That's different, that's tradition, and the training it takes, it can be proper harsh at times and it's not the sort of thing you'd want for a little girl. That's the difference.
Actually not believing in it likely makes you more likely to be ruined by it. I didn't believe in it. Not a bit. It seemed a damned poor excuse for people to justify bad or pointless decisions, calling it ka. I still don't hold with that. But now here's skeptic Cuthbert up and lifted to another world. Twice. There's got to be a purpose in it and if I'm honest I think it more likely ka than gods. If the gods are true and real they must have better things to do than shuttle me back and forth along the Beams. And if they're not they couldn't anyway.
