I don't dislike Molly. She dislikes me and I'm not sure why, that's why I tease her. As she's concerned I'm mostly indifferent. It's her father I have the dislike for, but those reasons are obvious.
It sounds to me that what you're describing is the perfect argument for any kind of leader to have a second who isn't at all afraid to tell him what he needs to hear, stop him from falling into those traps. I'm not one to talk after Roland...there are some tragedies you can't just pull a fellow back from - but that's supposed to be the principle of it.
