Who: Claudia, Shuri, and Cosima What: watching a parade Where: the Magic Kingdom/Disney When: Mar. 24th Warnings: Low. It's Disney, folks. Status: closed/g-doc
Claudia had to admit a trip to Disney hadn’t been on the top of her list, but as soon as Cosima mentioned it, she felt herself getting really excited! Now that the three had found their way to the Magic Kingdom, Claudia felt giddy. And it wasn’t just from the amount of sugar she’d consumed during the day.
Their hotel was beautiful and Claudia got to spend it with Cosima. While she and Shuri weren’t super close, she knew Cosima considered the other woman a close friend, as did Irina. So, obviously it meant Claudia should get to know Shuri better.
After dinner, the trio made their way down to wait for the fireworks. Thankfully, Claudia convinced the other two to spend the money on extended hours for the night. At this rate, she’d need a vacation from her vacation, but oh well. Claudia had snagged some hot chocolates from Joffrey’s for the three of them.
“I have to admit, I’m excited for fireworks.” She didn’t mention the part where the three of them saw more than one little Black girl wearing shirts with Shuri’s face or other strange things. Claudia handed both women their drinks and wrapped an arm around Cosima’s waist.
Shuri, for her part, got a kick out of people wearing outfits of her friends and her brother. Apparently Disney really liked Avengers. A couple of little girls had gotten wide-eyed when they saw her, so Shuri smiled and waved.
“Thanks for the drink Claudia. Ooh the parade…” and she stopped. Did they have a float with the Dora Milaje and T’Chala? “I was expecting a little more Cinderella and a little less…” as Shuri gestured to someone dressed as her as well. But she found herself laughing about it.
Cosima was so very excited about being at DisneyWorld with two women who were very important to her. Claudia and Shuri. Her girlfriend and one of her very best friends. She was glad that Shuri had mentioned wanting to go, and that Claudia had agreed.
“Apparently you’re a Disney Princess now, Shuri,” Cosima said, grinning at the woman. “I have to admit, I’m a little jealous. Disney Princess wasn’t exactly on the top of my list of what I wanted to do when I grew up, but it was definitely on the list.”
She took the hot chocolate from Claudia with a small smile, and leaned in to kiss the woman’s cheek.
Claudia couldn’t help the smile Cosima caused. Pretty much whenever they were together. While Cosima and Shuri both went for Avengers type ears, Claudia decided to buy these for herself. And, just to mess with Chuuya, she bought him some ears to go with the sunglasses she bought for him. Irina’s gift still remained a mystery.
“Shuri, what’s it feel like living the dream so many little girls and some boys had?” Claudia never wanted to be a Disney princess, but she couldn’t help grinning at the other woman. She took a sip of her hot chocolate.
Shuri readjusted her ears. “I have to admit, I think it’s funny as fuck. I wonder what my brother would think?”
And then the float moved on and Shuri found herself waving at Tiana. “I love your beignets!” Which caused the princess to smile and dip into a curtsey in their direction.
“Wonder how many princesses we can get to curtsy?” Shuri didn’t care much about the princes. Most of them bored her.
“Mmm, beignets,” Cosima said, distracted by Shuri’s comment to Tiana. “I bet they sell those here somewhere…” She had eaten her weight in beignets during the Mardi Gras celebration that had happened in Madison Valley, but she still wasn’t tired of them. Not in the slightest.
She considered Shuri’s last question, her head tilting slightly. “I think we should try to get them all to curtsey,” she said. “I mean. Princesses do that, right? Well, most princesses,” she said, eyeing Shuri.
Then she grinned at the woman, clearly teasing her.
“I wonder if they have anything we can get for Minerva,” she said. “Not that she’s going to know whether we got her a gift from DisneyWorld or not.”
Claudia laughed. “I think if we get something that comes in a Disney box big enough for Minerva will make her happy enough. Maybe they have cute Disney collars though?” Minerva actually kept her collar with the tiny bell on her neck. Other cats might remove theirs, but Minerva didn’t seem particularly bothered by it.
Shuri laughed. “Well here comes Snow White. It’s your turn Cosima, and then Claudia gets her chance.” Shuri did wave at the dwarves though, with an enthusiastic wave.
“Can we get her a Minnie Mouse collar? Minnie Mouse for Minerva the Cat. …or an Aristocats collar, that might be more appropriate.”
She did know her Disney movies. She was unashamed by this.
“Oh, I get to flirt with Snow White? I think I can handle that.” She grinned at the two women she was with. She did like a good challenge. Though Snow White might not be Cosima’s exact type, she could definitely flirt with anything and everything.
“I’ll be your prince, Snow White!” she called out. And she couldn’t help but giggle softly as she spoke. She knew it was cheesy, but she didn’t care. It did get the princess’s attention, though. Snow White waved in their direction, and gave the trio a curtsey.
Shuri burst into laughter. “Well that’s one way to get a curtsy.” Claudia joined in the laughter. “Too bad you’re mine, Cosima.” She said it with a stuck out tongue, though.
The next float seemed to be Wonderland, and Claudia bowed as Alice passed. “Curiouser and curiouser,” she called out to the character. While Alice didn’t curtsey she did wave and smile.
Shuri could hear the Sleeping Beauty theme approaching. She curtsied and shouted “You’re beautiful!” Aurora curtsied in their direction.
Claudia remembered what Cosima asked. “I think either collar would be cute on Minerva.” Of course she thought Minerva the prettiest and cutest cat.
“It’s the only way to get a curtsy,” she said, grinning at Shuri. “Snow White was one of my favorite movies growing up. That, and The Little Mermaid.” She had been fond of Disney movies growing up. When she hadn’t been doing science-y stuff. She had grown a fondness of science at a young age as well.
Though she had never been to Disney before in her life. Being able to go with Claudia and Shuri made it alright, though. She enjoyed spending time with the two.
“Maybe we can get her a Minnie Mouse collar and an Aristocats collar. We can switch them out.”
Shuri laughed at her friend’s antics. “It looks like the parade is ending. I see Mickey’s and Minnie’s float approaching.” And nothing behind it. But, she winked at Claudia and then boy bowed as Mickey and Minnie rode by, with the two of them waving at the trio
Claudia gave her girlfriend a little side eye at the switching collars comment. “Do you know how difficult it was to get one collar on Minerva? If you want to switch them out, that’s entirely your responsibility.” But she grinned. “I’m sure we can find a few appropriate ones.”
As the last float went by, Claudia asked, “So, we should go on a few more rides before we go back to the hotel, right?” Because she wanted to make the most of her trip with the two women.
Shuri nodded. “We definitely need to go on a few more rides.”
Cosma eyed Claudia in return. “Minerva and I have an understanding. She allows me to change her collars out, and I give her a little extra wet food in return.” This was a lie, but definitely something that Cosima was willing to try. She wouldn’t know if it worked unless she tried.
“Can we go on Space Mountain?” she asked. “Or we can see if we can crash Star Wars Land or whatever it’s called and talk to Princess Leia.” Yes, she knew it wasn’t the Princess Leia, but whatever.
It was still fun.
Shuri grinned at her friend’s enthusiasm. “I’m game for whatever you two want to do. I’m just thrilled to be here. Although I think we’ll hit Star Wars Land tomorrow, so Space Mountain tonight?” She’d studied everything and Star Wars Land was in Hollywood Studios, a completely different Disney Park.
Claudia laughed. “You can probably convince our cat to do a lot of things for extra food.” Minerva at least liked to play, so she hadn’t put on too many extra pounds.
