It'd been a decent day at work, thankfully uneventful -- which, when you worked at the shooting range, was really something you appreciated -- and as a result, Spender was in a fairly decent mood as he walked into Lou's. The bartenders there knew him by this point, something that would probably worry him if not for the fact that A: he'd been in town for a year and a half, and B: it was rare that he went through more than one or two beers.
Tonight was very much in the "one or two beers" range, with him nursing the first as he watched people idly. It made him think of Claudia's Christmas present to him, which in turn had him smiling faintly. That gift card was a fantastic example of how the friendships he formed in life were sometimes a little offbeat. When he was younger, he'd never cared about that because his friends were all as exceedingly ambitious as he was -- which had ended badly for one of them -- and now that he was older, he didn't care because he'd been through too much to worry about pesky things like normality.
Which was a good thing, because normality was in short supply most times in Madison Valley.
He turned his attention away from the crowd for a moment, offering up a slight nod of greeting to the man who was sitting next to him -- someone that Spender was pretty sure he'd seen around town or on the network, though he couldn't come up with the man's name to save his life.
Vaguely irritating, really.
