Call him paranoid, but Murphy's first concern was for his children and not himself. If something happened to him, there were people who could take the kids, but something happening to them? No. Potentially ending up in the past alone was something that Murphy would not let happen to his kids, and as a result? He was keeping them at home as much as was humanly possible. Between Derek, his other friends, and one or two townie babysitters he'd trusted over the years, he'd be able to keep them safe with people.
That didn't really make him feel much better, but it did make him at least marginally more inclined to be at work.
Not that work was keeping up with that "I want to be here" vibe. People were on edge because of the angel thing and of course they were taking it out on other people in the stupidest of ways and the stupidest of places, like the fight that had broken out two aisles over that he'd had to go break up. That'd been fun. Not. It'd actually involved yelling for management and letting them deal with it while he went back to what he'd been doing. He was pretty sure at least one of those people had gotten kicked out.
When had he turned into the person who didn't solve everything with violence? Growing up sucked.
