Who: Lorna & Alec What: Mistletoe When: Sunday Dec 19 Where: Streets Rating: Medium for maybe some language cause it’s these two, but more so Lorna.
Lorna had once again waited until the last minute to do some of her holiday shopping. Dawn’s was done and had been, but it was the people close to her that she was still picking up a few gifts for. She had left Dawn with a babysitter, especially after the whole Black Friday madness. If that shit happened again, then there was no way she was having her daughter anywhere near it. Lorna could take care of herself, but if anyone touched her daughter, then there was a very high chance there would be a dead body.
Finishing up, she exited a store just as she saw Alec walk by. Thankfully, his gift wasn’t on her, which was the only reason she turned to walk in his direction, waiting until she was a bit closer before saying it loudly. "Watch out for the killer doll!" Okay, yes, she was still amused and Alec shouldn’t be at all surprised at how she was still having fun with it. Hell, she was already planning a fun little April Fool’s prank with that whole thing.
—
“I swear to God if you are buying me a freaky doll, I will come back to haunt you when it murders me.” Not that Alec couldn’t handle himself and probably he could solve a killer doll thing, but did he want to? No. Plus he was sure Dean would find it hilarious he was killed by a possessed doll. He was actually happy to see Lorna, though, which is why he was smiling.
He noticed the bags she had and nodded at them. “Any of those for me?” He waggled his eyebrows playfully as he closed the distance.
–
Lorna was fighting the laugh that wanted to slip out on his comment about haunting her, trying to pretend to be offended even though it was very obvious how she was trying not to laugh. “I’m hurt that you would think I’d do that,” she held it for a moment before shrugging, “and now you’ve gone and ruined your present!” The idea had crossed her mind, but nope, she was saving the doll thing for April Fool’s.
“No, these gifts are for the people I like better than you,” she replied with a cocky smirk. Though Alec knew her well enough and she liked him well enough to where he was able to call bullshit on that without a care from her. Honestly, Alec was one of her favorite people here and probably would’ve lost her mind if it wasn’t for this friendship even if he did drive her nuts sometimes. Not moving as he closed the distance, but rolling her eyes at the waggle of his eyebrows. —
“Leaving the best for last then, huh.” He took her verbal sparring and sent it back at her - he liked their banter. It made him feel more at home here. Lorna wasn’t Max, but he was pretty sure Lorna and Max would have been friends and equally enjoy giving him a hard time. “I was on my way to look for stuff myself.” Well, not Lorna’s or Dawn’s. He was still having a hell of a time trying to figure out something for Mary.
He felt a little ‘tug’ at the end and ended up standing just a little too close to Lorna than was normal. Realizing it, he tried to take a step back and he couldn’t. Weird.
–
"More like saving the high maintenance one that can be a diva for last," she fired back with a smirk. This was why Alec and Kenny were two of her favorite people around here because they could both keep up with the verbal sparring. They didn’t get all bent out of shape or bitchy with the comments because they knew it was all in good fun. "Oh? And who are you shopping for?" Lorna normally didn’t care unless it was someone within her circle who she considered family, and since Alec was part of that circle, she allowed herself to be a bit curious. Lorna noticed him standing a bit too close, figuring Alec was being him even if it was a bit too close for him. "I know you keep hoping I’ll invite you into my bed while I’m myself, but only in your dreams," she commented, teasing him as she moved to push him back only to see he wasn’t stepping back. "What the fuck?" She asked before trying to step back herself to find that she couldn’t, groaning in frustration. What is this place doing now? —
“Still the same person.” Alec only had a handful of people he really thought about enough for gifts which was helpful with the whole list-to-buy. It also meant that trying to figure out Mary’s gift took up a lot of his time.
He opened his mouth to say something witty about being in bed with her when he noticed she tried to move and couldn’t. This drew a confused furrow to his brow before he tried to do the same. He put some of his not-so-human strength into it too and only managed to budge a little. “Well I definitely didn’t do this.” He did not have that sort of power.
Alec tried to get out a few different ways before he went into soldier mode and tried to look around for a solution. That’s when he looked up and saw the mistletoe above them on a lamppost. He blinked and then looked to Lorna. “It can’t be that, can it?”
–
Lorna would’ve fired back with another comment; however, her focus was now shifting to the whole being stuck issue. It was bad enough being stuck under a dome like a lab rat, but this was a different matter. Unable to move only made her feel like she was back in certain parts of her life that she’d rather not think about, knowing it only sparked her anger.
"I didn’t either. Cause while I have the ability to keep people somewhere, the issue is that, one, I wouldn’t do it to myself and two," she nodded to her hands, "no green energy, so it isn’t me." Lorna was able to keep people stuck somewhere if they were wearing metal, but this was not her. Glancing around, she knew the signs to look for as to whether it was a mutant using their abilities or not. Not seeing any signs of this being caused by someone.
Turning her attention back to Alec as he glanced up, then seeing what he saw, Lorna wrinkled her nose at the sight of the mistletoe. "That would be some real bullshit if that’s what's causing this," she replied, biting her lip in thought for a moment. "Hold these for a second," she gave him the bags that were in her hand before focusing her abilities on her steel toed boots. Lifting herself a bit higher off the ground before feeling like she hit another wall, swearing as she allowed herself to drop back onto the ground. "I know this place pulls weird shit, but that?" She nodded upward at the mistletoe as she took her bags back from him. Nope, she was not doing it! The stubborn side of her showing up on some dome trying to tell her what to do.
—
He held the bag and watched. It wasn’t the first time he’d seen her use her ability, but it was definitely the first time he saw it so close up. He made a bit of a face when she hit the invisible ceiling and then held out her bags when she went for them again.
“I can’t decide if I should feel insulted or not right now.” He was half joking. Younger Alec - and by that, it was more like Alec a few months ago - would have relished in the idea of a hot woman having to kiss him. He’d probably straight up look for a bunch of mistletoes after this to try and get as much lip-action in as possible. This was not the now-Alec, though. Now Alec got the whole consent thing, among other stuff.
–
"I can think of a few people who would love to see me trapped like this," she commented without much thought, frustrated at the whole being stuck issue. Thankfully, the few that would use this opportunity to put a bullet in her were not here, considering she had no idea if the weird wall they were in kept things out. Had this been a stranger, the comment wouldn’t have left her mouth; however, it was Alec. She knew about his life and he knew enough about hers that she felt comfortable enough to make comments like that. Very few people could say that since Lorna was often careful about what she said about herself.
"Considering this is probably one of your fantasies, you should feel just a bit insulted," she teased, glancing around as if she was going to find a switch or something that would fix this issue. The idea of kicking it crossed her mind, but then if it decided to make it hurt, she did not need to be stuck with a busted foot when Dawn was looking forward to the holiday. "I’ve seen your diary with Alec Dane written all over it," she joked before sighing. "Fine, it wins... mostly," Lorna added with a smirk, knowing she was never one to completely give in to what people wanted. "It wants a kiss, but who says the kiss has to be on the lips?" She questioned, deciding that was the better route, especially considering she knew he was happy and didn’t want to mess that up, even if it was the dome doing it.
—
"Okay, but I'm keeping my pants on." As if to momentarily imply that Lorna's other suggestion might have been a more intimate suggestion than less intimate, even if he got what she was trying to say.
Deciding to make the first move, Alec leaned forward and kissed his friend on the cheek. He felt the release almost instantly. "Don't take this the wrong way, but -" he took a step back and was actually able to. He looked up and the mistletoe was gone because of course it was. He sighed. This place sucked sometimes.
– Lorna punched him in the arm at his stupid comment about his pants. Though it wasn’t a hard hit like she could do, but enough for what he deserved with that comment. “Please do. I don’t like the guys who are as easy as you, it’s not a turn on,” she flashed a grin at the comment, giving him a hard time like always.
When he kissed her on the cheek, Lorna didn’t feel as trapped in a tight area like she had been. “Wow, I’m offended, and I hope you feel like an ass, knowing I’ll be crying tonight into my pillow.” Her tone serious, but anyone who knew her knew nothing that left her mouth just now was serious. Stretching herself a bit as if they had been in there a while, but the whole thing made her feel all cramped up as if she was back to being locked up. Glancing up when she saw him as well. “This place really does love fucking with us,” she replied at seeing the mistletoe gone. “As much as I enjoy your company and would normally invite you so we can hang out more, I’m not doing that right now. No way in hell am I offering the dome a chance to trap us again.” –
He raised his hands up as if to surrender while he shook his head, which was really a silent gesture of ‘I don’t blame you’ because he really didn’t. Who knew if this was going to be some sort of homing mistletoe that followed people around. He’d definitely be spending more time looking up for a while now. “Hopefully this is a one-time or one-day thing.” It was still kind of weird to hear him say that out loud considering who he used to be, but there it was.
“You run into a problem, though, you let me know. Kissing your cheek wasn’t the worst thing in the world.” He winked.
