Who: Shawn and Juliet What: Winterlude When: December 16, afternoon. Where: In line for a slide. Rating: low Status: Completed gdoc
Everytime something new came to town, Shawn got excited. It was nice for a change of pace, especially for someone like him who basically needed stimulus often or he went crazy. It helped that he had really started to find his stride at the theatre. The escape rooms were going well and there were requests for another murder mystery night. The best part, though, was that this time Juliet would be here for Christmas and it was this that really truly mattered to him.
He had on all the winter gear, partly because he was from Santa Barbara originally and Indiana was colder than there. Also because he wanted to look ‘the part’ of it being the Christmas season. They were currently in line for one of the slides. “The real questions, Jules, is do you want to race or go down together?” He paused and then added. “And can I convince you to go down the ice ones that you go down on your butt?”

Juliet knew it had been rough on Shawn not to have her around for the holidays last year, but she was glad he had her around here this time. There was also the fact that, even though she had no control over it, she felt bad about him having to spend the holidays without her around. Growing up in warm places, Juliet was not meant for cold places. It probably showed with how bundled up she was, which there was no trying to look the part, she was actually cold.
It was cold, but freezing her butt off was well worth this outing, especially considering how amazing it looked. "Depends. Are you wanting to lose," she asked with a smile, but both knew she was competitive, even when the person was her own husband. "You can maybe convince me to go down on my butt. What’s the starting price? Because you have until we reach the front to convince me," she moved to see how many people were in front, "you have about five people." Though she knew what her asking price was, she was seeing what he came up with for options first.
—
“Oo, starting price. Let’s see.” He rubbed his gloved hands together as he thought. Five people wasn’t exactly a lot of time, but Shawn was nothing if not inventive by nature. “Alright. Chocolate’s too obvious. So is coffee. So’s a kiss.” Thinking out loud helped him narrow things down. It hurt him a little that Shawn took these things maybe a little too seriously so he always wanted to come up with the best, most perfect answer ever.
“New puppy? New puppy for Gus so we can visit and be puppy aunt and uncle without all the pooping and scooping?”
–
Juliet had a challenging look on her face, waiting to hear what offers he came up with. Knowing her husband, she was sure they’d be interesting ones. Making sure to keep a great poker face on as he listed items, waiting for his starting price. Even after all these years of knowing Shawn, it still amazed her how he could always come up with something creative, even if it was very far off from what she was thinking in her head. No one could ever claim her husband wasn’t creative.
Crossing her arms, she raised an eyebrow slightly for a moment at the puppy offer. "Gus would probably murder me if I actually agreed to that one. So as tempting as that might be, I’m not going to do that to Gus. Though we would be the best uncle and aunt that puppy ever had," she replied before continuing on. "No deal, you’re welcome to try again." Juliet bounced a little as they moved up, trying to stay as she thought about the beach and how much she was missing it right now.

Well, he had given that a try. It was probably for the best since Gus could always be a little dicey around animals. Still, he had a mission and there was a time limit and he did not want to fail so his brain moved onto the next thing.
“Weeks worth of massages? And not the kind that’s like a massage -” Shawn made his voice deeper and dramatically ‘sexy’ with the word before continuing, “- but actual ones where there’s no expectation of a happy ending after unless expressly requested by the client. I can even get those stones and do a hot stone thing.”
–
Juliet knew that wasn’t fair to Gus, even if the idea of a puppy was very tempting. Maybe at some point, she’d bring up the idea of them getting a dog. No way were the two ready for children, and who knew if they ever would be, but a puppy might be easier on both of them. It was something to think about. Or maybe even a cat? Juliet would need to think about it before maybe bringing the idea up to Shawn, but for now she was to focus on the options being offered up.
"And here I thought I was going to have some sexy massage guy give me a happy ending massage," Juliet giggled, lowering her voice so only the two of them would hear the stupid teasing. She was only interested in one man unless the dome had something else to say about it, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t give him a hard time. Even more so when he left it open like he did for the joke. "Do you even know how to do the hot stone massage? Because I love you, but I’m not being a test dummy for that whole thing." Shawn had a lot of skills, but she didn’t know them all, and she wasn’t completely sure about this one. "And Gus is not being practiced on either," she quickly added, just in case he actually thought of that route to test it out.
—
He opened his mouth to say Gus, but then Juliet knocked the idea down quickly so his mouth came back up like he was a muppet. Well, fine. “I can Youtube. You can learn anything on Youtube. Or I can pay for you to go to a fancy massage place with no happy endings, but I can pick you up with your favourite food and dessert after.” That had to be a sweet deal, right?
“Or, counter offer, I make you breakfast for a week, with or without massage.”
–
Juliet couldn’t help the shake of her head when seeing his mouth come back up, knowing what had been about to leave his mouth. "While you’re right about learning anything on Youtube and I trust you with my life, I think I may have to turn down the hot stone massage done by you." But she did listen to the rest of his offer, raising an eyebrow and pretending to think it over. The offers being tossed on the table were amazing ones; however, she had to look like she was thinking it over in her head.
"Counter offer from me," she offered with a smile, as she stood up straight as if this was a serious conversation that was being had rather than the two having some fun. "Breakfast for the weekend and paying for one fancy massage where I get my favorite dessert after? Do those terms work for you?" Juliet was having a little fun acting like this was some serious deal going down and even allowing her voice to sound semi-serious while also breaking a bit from being so cold and it showed in her talking.

Much like Juliet, Shawn made a show of making it look like he was considering this counter offer from his wife. He was going to take it - despite what most people thought, Shawn wasn’t a complete idiot - but like Jules, he had to make it look good.He didn’t take too long ‘dwelling’ over it, though, and soon he was nodding. Then he held out his hand for an official handshake. “Deal. Happy to be doing business with you, Mrs. Spencer.” And really, Shawn was happy he was about to have a race with his wife on other slides after this one. He liked excuses to be able to have fun, especially the sort of fun most adults thought were beneath them or too young for them.
–
Juliet fought back a smile as she watched her husband considering the offer. She figured he would take it unless he thought up something better to toss on the table, but if not, then she was sure he’d agree to the terms. "Smart man, because I was not willing to go any lower on my price. I'm glad we could reach an agreement, Mr. Spencer," she said solemnly, shaking his hand, as if this was some serious business deal that had just happened, but the look on her face said she was joking. There was also the small matter of her being a bit competitive, even if she wouldn’t always agree to that, so a race was on and she was determined to win against Shawn. "But after we’re getting some hot chocolate because my butt is going to be frozen," she told him as they moved up, noticing how they'd be the next ones to go.
