The past week had been more than a little nerve-wracking for Jedikiah, moreso because of what having this particular power set meant to him than anything else. Things hadn't gone well for him the last time he'd had them, he'd lost them so quickly -- less than half an hour, probably -- that he hadn't had any kind of time to start figuring them out. He'd studied his brother, of course, but studying somebody else's abilities was entirely different than having them yourself.
He'd managed fairly well, though, better than he'd really expected to. The hardest to handle had been the telepathy, but only because catching the surface thoughts of high school students was incredibly easy. He'd learned more than a handful of ways to keep people out of his head, it'd taken him a little bit to figure out how to flip that around but oh he was grateful he'd managed it.
And he knew he was lucky to have ended up with something he knew, something he had experience with. Under other circumstances, he might have even enjoyed ending up with an ability. But these? With the baggage they came along with? Not really.
After the day he'd had -- not a bad day, just another day of uncertainty on his part -- he was sorely in need of caffeine, which meant Starbucks what his first stop on the way home. He'd ordered and settled in to wait for his drink, so he was lingering at the end of the counter and trying not to people-watch for once.
