Who: Liam and Scott What: Haunted House Mischief When: [Backdated] October 22 Where: Haunted House Rating: low
Scott was looking forward to this. They had haunted houses in Beacon Hills, but since his life was basically a haunted house, he never had the time to do this sort of thing in a while. Maybe he shouldn’t have been looking forward to it as much as he was, but Scott decided he deserved some fun and so did Liam.
“Thanks for agreeing to come. I figured we go through this first and figure if it’s worth bringing other people.” Now that he thought of it, had Malia ever been through a haunted house? He filed that question away for later as they stood in the line, the next people to go in once the last group was deemed far enough in.
Honestly? Liam couldn't remember the last time that he'd been to a haunted house. It might have been before he even moved to Beacon Hills. There had been far too much going on there for him to worry about normal things. Those things that kids should be able to do and enjoy. Which was why Madison Valley seemed to be a good thing, in his eyes.
"You think I'd miss out on this?" He asks, giving his alpha a bit of a smirk. "I don't think so." He's also, to a point, curious on if this so-called haunted house could scare them or not. Especially after everything they'd been through.
He smiled back at Liam. He was glad this wasn’t some lame idea and he was dragging a friend along otherwise he’d start feeling really old despite not being too much older than Liam.
They were ushered inside and they started to walk down a dark, foggy hallway with fake blood splattered along the wall to make it look like someone was murdered here or something. “I guess being able to smell the blood is fake doesn’t help.” For some reason he was whispering.
Suddenly doors opened with a girl covered in blood screaming “Please! Help me!” before she was pulled back in and the door slammed shut. Yeah, Scott thought it’d be scarier if they could smell real blood, but he thought her acting was pretty good.
The fog, to him, was a nice touch. Fake blood? It really didn't do much for either of them. Being werewolves kind of killed that part of the excitement. It does, however, amuse him that Scott is whispering. Even with it all being fake some things stayed the same. Maybe that's just how someone was supposed to act or sound in a haunted house.
The girl coming out covered in blood was a good touch, not bad. "You realize this might get boring for us because of that, right?" So, good idea for their outing, but it kind of sucked due to what they were.
“Maybe we should have plugged our nose or something before we came in.” He actually had no idea if that would work, but if they just breathed through their nose, it might, right?
Scott tried his own suggestion, but it turns out it was harder to breathe through your mouth for an extended period of time. They went through a creepy kid’s room that while not scary was definitely a little disturbing and a kitchen that seemed to be covered with blood. It was only when he got to the kitchen door that he paused and put his hand up to get Liam to stop too.
He turned his head to look at Liam, his voice now more than a whisper since they both had enhanced hearing. “Do you smell that?” It was fear. Real fear. Someone had been terrified and not just the sort he’d been picking up from the ‘jump scare’ parts.
"I'm not even sure that would work." Actually, he's not sure there was much that would work on them. It didn't, however, mean that it would work. It also doesn't surprise him that his alpha decided to plug up his nose anyway. Which meant that he, himself, was not going to do that. They'd just have to deal with being able to see, hear, and smell everything better than a normal human.
He frowns when they get to the creepy kid's room. Not because it was scary but it was disturbing. Was that real blood this time? He's not entirely sure that it was. That frown deepens even more when Scott gets him to stop.
Liam cants his head slightly and frowns," Fear." Except what in the hell was in the haunted house that could cause that level of fear.
Scott was getting one of those ‘bad feelings’ he got when he was regretting going somewhere. He suddenly wished they were back to face-painted ghosts and cackling clowns with pretend weapons.
Maybe he should have turned back, but the problem was, if someone was that scared, they might be still there and need help. Liam, too, was capable of fighting and handling himself, even if Scott felt the need to protect him at all times, so instead of retreating, he opened the door.
It was a hallway that looked impossibly long compared to what the house looked like from the outside, though he wasn’t exactly an architect to really know if that was true or not. What caught his attention as he slowly made his way down the hall was the claw marks on either side of the walls. They were familiar in the size and distancing. The only difference was the thing making it would have to be bigger than he or Liam was to be able to walk and scratch both sides of the hallway at the same time. “These look real.” The werewolf scratches, that is.
Scott wasn't the only one getting a bad feeling about the whole situation. Liam knew that haunted houses were meant to instill fear, but this seemed to take it to the extreme a bit. He wasn't sure that he liked that. If he could smell the fear then what else in Madison Valley could smell it?
Even if his alpha had turned and walked away, he wouldn't have been able to. Luckily, for him, he knows that Scott isn't that type of person. That he wouldn't walk away from someone in need.
He doesn't, however, expect a long ass hallway. He even looks back out the door that they entered then back at the hallway. That seemed... impossible. He also isn't overly fond of the scratch marks on the wall. Reaching up Liam places his fingers over the scratch marks.
"Definitely real and definitely angry. Hungry? Something."
“Whatever it is, I have a feeling we were meant to see this.” Scott had been here long enough that he figured this wasn’t what everyone else saw. If it was, there would have definitely been some chatter about it on the network. This seemed too real for a haunted house too.
Scott paused and crouched, one hand going to the floor as his eyes flashed red while he took another more deliberate inhale. It was faint, but he could smell two scents. “I think it’s after someone.” He stood back up and looked at Liam for a silent check in before continuing down the hall.
He was just thinking about how strange it was that there were no doors when the hallway finally ended and in the turn to the right they came to a single door. There was no way this was a coincidence. Scott looked back at Liam to make sure he was ready before he opened the door as quickly as possible.
The room was large and looked like it had been some sort of orphanage or something with several bunk beds and carpet for play or something. What Scott focused on wasn’t the furniture, but the large werewolf that was trying to claw its way into a large wooden armoire. It looked like The Beast only something much more hairier - like what movies thought werewolves were. There wasn’t really time to think about it though as Scott took a few steps forward, his features changing to that more of a wolf with his eyes glowing red. “Hey.”
That caught the werewolf’s attention. Now hopefully this thing wasn’t faster and stronger than they were.
"That's messed up." That a haunted house, of all places, would toss something at them that they were meant to see. As long as this place didn't play on a person's worst fears, they'd be fine. The last thing he wanted to deal with was his worst fear. Which he had a few of those now.
"In what room? Because I'm not seeing any doors." Even as he lets his eyes flash gold and stay that way, he can't see anything along the walls. No hidden doors that were invisible to normal human eyes. That didn't, however, mean that he wouldn't follow his alpha down the hallway.
Well, there was his door. Singular. Which was even more weird, if he was being honest. Giving a nod he waits until the door is open before stepping into it with Scott and stopping short. How in the world did an orphanage fit into one small room? Large room? Also, that werewolf looked fake as hell. Like it had jumped out of the movies or something.
"Run the other way?" Assuming they had a way to run. If they could get the werewolf to chase them then whoever it was after would be safe.
That was a good idea. They were probably just as fast as this thing and it would give whoever or whatever was inside the closet time to escape. As if to give the other werewolf more incentive to escape, Scott let out a roar. This seemed to do the trick as the werewolf growled angrily. Scott was able to let out the word “run!” before he turned to run down the long corridor.
The werewolf was fast, that was for sure. They needed a plan - that was the sentence that kept running through Scott’s head as they ran the other way. Somehow the hallway was different again. Instead of solid walls, there were windows.
After a moment to process that, Scott looked at Liam. “We should use the windows.” Scott was planning to push the werewolf out. It might not fix the problem entirely, but they could keep the person safe and then regroup with others to track it down.
He came to a stop and turned around, tensing to get ready for a fight.
Running had been the only thing that Liam could think of. So, the moment he got the signal to run, he ran. Even if the corridor throws him off and nearly makes him falter. What in the hell was with this place? It kept shifting and changing, like some labyrinth or a very elaborate maze one wasn't supposed to get out of.
That werewolf was fast, but he's pretty sure that they were faster. Maybe they could get the thing completely away from whoever was in that other room. That person was, hopefully, getting the hell out. Assuming the place hadn't twisted and turned on them too.
He skids to a stop beside his alpha," I'm willing to use the windows if you are." They might all three go out the window. However, that was probably better than letting it stay inside. Even if they did lose it in the process.
Scott had a brief moment where he asked the Powers That Be if they could have one normal thing in life without it turning into a life or death thing. Sure, this was scarier than a fake haunted house, but maybe a fake haunted house was good enough.
He nodded both to Liam and himself, taking a breath to steady himself. When the werewolf came at them, the whole thing was chaos. The lights decided to flicker in the hallway and while Scott had come up against a lot of werewolves, this was the first one that drooled and had the worst breath. Definitely not a Beacon Hills werewolf.
With Liam, Scott worked to keep those claws away from them while moving to try and maneuver the werewolf toward the window. Scott might be an alpha, but Liam had strength in him - one of the reasons Theo had used Liam the way that he had. So when there seemed to be a moment, Scott took it to slide behind the werewolf and duck against the werewolf’s knees so Liam could push it out. “Now Liam!”
Ever since Liam had come to Madison Valley, there hadn't really been anything life or death related to it. The only thing strange about the place was how everyone's memories were different. Him and Theo knew one thing. Malia, who had been there before, knew another. Everything was weird and strange. Definitely not something he even wanted to deal with.
Also, what was up with this werewolf? Did they take the worst parts of a movie and shove it into one werewolf or something? He's a bit thrown off by he flickering lights in the hallway, but it was easy to keep track of the werewolf itself. The stench of it was hard not to notice.
The moment Scott slides behind the werewolf and ducks behind its knees and his name comes from his alpha's mouth, he uses all of the strength he possesses. If all three of them happen to go out the window then so be it. They would heal. Well, him and Scott would heal anyway.
Except that the moment they end up outside the window, it's a broken animatronic rubber werewolf that greets them and Liam takes a chance to look at his alpha and then back at the broken animatronics," Huh..."
There was really no way Scott would let Liam fly out of the window without him, but it seemed as though they weren’t as high up as the windows had suggested. In fact, the whole thing was entirely anticlimactic as they fell out of the first floor window. Still a little winded, but with zero broken bones, Scott sat up to see the animatronic as well. Looking up at the window it didn’t even look broken. Rubbing his face, Scott let out a sigh. “I guess we should have seen something like this coming.” How they would have predicted it? Who knew, but it now seemed like a very Dome thing to do. “Come on. Let’s go get something at Hinkles instead and then let the rest of the pack know to be careful with the haunted house.”
