"I'm holding you to that," Mary replied. Honestly, watching Alec jump impossibly higher than an average human had already impressed Mary. He'd put himself on the line to save a kid's life and that did not escape her. He didn't know how she would react, but he did it anyway. Mary respected that, but finding her keys in the dark? Totally a close second.
Mary looked down at the nearly empty beer cupped between her hands. "Maybe if I didn't know what it was like to keep a secret, this might have been different, but we both know that being a hunter makes that part of the job. I know what it's like to keep who you are from people you care about to protect yourself and to protect them."
Given everything Dean had been through, she had confidence in him having an open mind. "Honestly, I think he would. He has a pretty open-mind...about most things anyway." About Mary spending so much time around Alec? Probably not, but she'd initiated it with inviting him to the dinosaur park. Alec had just responded and, the truth was, she liked spending time around him.
She loved Dean, but she wasn't going to let that deter her from being around someone she liked.
