Transgenic? Mary had never heard of a transgenic before, but that probably was because such a being did not exist in her world. She leaned forward to listen as he explained further.
Count on the government to create something that was a better, deadlier weapon. A better soldier. Alec didn't have to add that it was less than a stellar experience. Anything involving the government usually was. She couldn't imagine a happy childhood for Alec as part of some military project.
She nodded. "I can't say I have heard of a transgenic before, but from your explanation I understand what you are. My childhood was rough, but I can't imagine yours was any better."
Perhaps she should have been a bit more scared of Alec after finding out he was a genetically-enhanced soldier, but she wasn't. She was curious, interested to know more about what he was and what he could do, but she didn't think he would cause her harm. If he had wanted to, there were plenty of moments where he could have inflicted it.
She reached across the table and touched his hand. "I appreciate you tell me, Alec. I know that couldn't have been easy for you to do." It went without saying that Mary wasn't going to tell anyone anything about it. It was his secret and his choice of who he shared it with.
"So, what else is your DNA made up of? If you don't mind me asking."
