"I don't mind work too much," he told her, even though he had a feeling she already knew he was going to say that. She seemed to know what he was going to say before he said it. He didn't mind that in the slightest, though. He almost preferred it.
"Oh no," he said, frowning a bit. "I am sorry Max is gone. He's gone for sure, then?" He knew some people were sent home for a short period of time, where others were sent home for good.
He hoped Max wasn't one of those sent home for good.
