Re: Nick and Mia
"Admittedly they didn't know who I was for a long time, but there came a point that we needed to be open with the public so we could still have their trust." It had been a long road and some of it he wasn't entirely proud of, but that wasn't a conversation for meeting the boyfriend of your grown child.
When Nick admitted what he was, Mia's instincts took over and she reached for his hand to hold. She wasn't even really aware she was doing it until she squeezed his hand. Inwardly, she was a little surprised.
Oliver had learned how to hone his reactions. For years he had to live a double life so he was good at it so whatever his initial thought on the subject of Nick being a werewolf was unreadable. Instead he gave a small nod and continued to walk while he talked. "Have you met a man by John Constantine yet? Mia tells me he's where you guys are." Which didn't surprise him. "Before I met John, I didn't believe in the supernatural. But he makes a pretty compelling argument for it. And he saved me life." And others he cared about. "He taught me that not everything we know from tv and movies are true. I imagine the same could be said for you."
They stopped back in the middle of the room and Oliver leaned back against one of the tables and folded his arms over his chest in a way that looked a lot like how Mia did. He looked at Mia "Nyssa contacted me either. She thinks the League's going to make a play for the city sometime in the next couple of days."
Whether it was mindful or not, Mia crossed her own arms over her chest in a mirror image. "Is that what agreeing to meet Nick was really about? You wanted to brief me?" Did she sound a little indignant? Yes, she did.
Oliver's lips pressed together and he stood up straighter, arms falling to his side as a visual sign of backing down. "No. I was just making you aware in case you and Nick planned to stay longer in the city."
