"It's a rule that's been in place since people started showing up," Carson said. "I think it started out as largely fear of the unknown and now it's just... one of those rules that nobody bothers to fight against, I think."
At her questions, he quirked a smile. "It probably had commonalities with a few of the sicknesses, but nothing terribly close. And I was in a coma because that's the way it ends -- first I was just tired and achy, then there was a rash on my neck, speech slurred on day three, and coma on day four. As for the why, I was one of the first people to treat the young man carrying the plague. Such close proximity to patient zero meant I was one of the first to go down."
