Adam had taken Opal to the park, giving Ronan a couple hours on his own. He didn't have work, so he was just going to chill and enjoy the quiet without having to keep an eye on Opal. He knew he was hard on her, but he convinced himself it was for her own good. He wanted her to be like any other kid, but he hadn't made her that way and sometimes she stood out. he didn't want people looking down on her or saying things about her weirdness, so he tried to stuff her in a mold. It usually backfired, but he kept doing it. For her sake, he told himself.
Adam was a lot more relaxed about parenting a child who wasn't human. He tended to let her run wild, which sometimes worried Ronan, but he trusted Adam to keep their little urchin safe. He absolutely wasn't going to worry about the two of them, and what they were doing. He was going to relax and enjoy a few hours to himself.
Starting with a trip to the bookstore. He wasn't much of a reader, but he liked the coffee there at the coffee shop. He could just dream up a cup, but where was the fun in that? He got himself an espresso and headed out to see what else he could find to occupy him. He stopped short when he saw one of his face twins. Not Murphy, he could tell right away. Must be Jake.
"I hadn't heard a peep from you for a while. Thought maybe you got sent home," Ronan said to him. He sipped his coffee, his eyes trained on Jake.
