He couldn't explain how it felt to see his daughter walk towards him. It warmed something inside of him that had been cold for so long and made him feel...worth something. She was beautiful and perfect and the very best parts of him and of Hayley. He wasn't going to waste this time that he'd been given to get to know her as an adult. Or, well, almost an adult.
"Hope," he said softly. "I'm well." And to be honest, he did feel well right now. He was having dinner with his daughter and then they were going to go for a run together. It should have happened before, when she'd first changed, but then he'd had...other things he'd had to do. He regretted that more than Hope would ever know.
"And you? I suppose you have plans for the upcoming holiday."
He wasn't really asking about Landon, but yes he was. He didn't like the guy, for any other reason than he dared to love his daughter.
