Re: John Sheppard and Nikita Mears
“That they are. You love them but sometimes you want to smack them upside the head for their wonderful choices,” she replied with a laugh. Or save them from someone like Amanda who wanted to hurt them. All of her friends were the closest thing she had to family, and even when they were driving her nuts, Nikita never thought twice about putting herself in danger to protect them.
Nikita agreed with him. As beautiful as the concept was in theory, Nikita knew that wasn’t something that actually happened. Maybe lust, but not love. “They say the best relationships start off as friends. So I come here with the idea of meeting some friends and who knows what might happen, no one needs the pressure of trying to find their perfect match cause then they get upset when it doesn’t work out.” No one needed all that pressure on them or at least she didn’t think so.
Hearing his story, Nikita related to that way more than she had been expecting. “How long were you married?” She asked before deciding it was only fair to give some of her story. Last thing she needed was saying her real career even when it was over or about being the most wanted person back in her world for a crime she didn’t even commit. “Thanks for your service,” she offered up with a smile, pushing her dark hair behind her ear. “I worked for a secret section of the government, but I was taking some time off to deal with a few things,” it was some of the truth without giving away too many details. “I’ve been engaged twice and both times it didn’t end up working out. Both were my fault,” she was the broken one and the screwed up one. If he asked, then she’d explain more, but if not, then she was leaving it alone.
