Things had settled down, a bit, for the most part. They'd actually gone house hunting and found one that worked for all three of them. It was a bit weird having his girlfriend's big brother there, but he was. Not that he really minded it. Even if the guy looked intimidating to him. Somehow, he had a feeling that Bellamy looked intimidating to a lot of people.
He'd just left work not that long ago when he'd decided to head off towards the park, figuring that he could get some good pictures there. They couldn't exactly be developed right away and that was fine. There was something that he wanted to talk to Octavia about anyway, seeing as he wanted to build some kind of shed in their backyard. That way he had his own darkroom at home and didn't have to come to work to develop anything that he snapped a photo of.
Madison Valley had quite the view and for the moment, that he could tell, there wasn't really a lot of people at the park. Didn't mean that he wasn't wrong on that notion, though. He was, after all, looking at things through a photo lens and not like a normal human being.
Since he didn't have to open up the Den until early evening, Kenny usually slept throughout most of the day. But once in a while, he'd wake up earlier than he wanted and couldn't go back to sleep. Today was one of those days and after awhile, he decided to take a quick walk outside.
He ended up at the park, which was a bit empty save for a few people. Kenny wasn't too surprised since it was a bit chilly out. Most would've stayed inside where it was warm, but Kenny didn't mind the cold. In fact, he kind of preferred winter over the summer.
He didn't pay much attention to his surroundings. Not until he came across a familiar face and he had to backtrack for a moment. Was that really Damien, his son/daughter he had with Death in some weird other universe? Or was it just another facetwin? He knew there were a couple of them - Murphy and some other guy named Ronan. But this guy didn't seem like any of them.
"Dude, what's your name?" he asked, deciding just to outright ask.
Looking at the world through a photo lens gained him quite a few looks. Not that he cared how people looked at him. There were even some that had recognized him from the Photo Studio. Which just meant that they'd probably be in to get their photos taken professionally. Something that he loved doing. It was a passion of his that would never truly go away.
The chilly air didn't bother him much. Haida Gwaii had been a lot colder than Madison Valley. Then again, there were hurricanes there too. Just the thought of that made a chill run down his spine. Especially considering that before this place, he'd been dead. That wasn't something that he wanted to even think about.
He turns a bit at the unfamiliar voice, lowering his camera when he does. "Jake. Who're you?"
So it wasn't Murphy or Ronan, but now there was apparently a third guy who looked like Damien. Which made Kenny feel... annoyed? or something else? that there was yet another person who looked like his son/daughter with Death. Why that bothered him, he had no idea and frankly didn't want to think about it too much.
He kept that to himself though and just shrugged. "Oh. I thought you were someone else for a second."
Sometimes Jake hated this whole twin thing. Triplet thing? How many of them were there now? No, he was sure it was only three. That was even including himself. What it was? Headache inducing. Probably to more people than just himself too. Which he'd apologize for, but he hadn't done anything wrong.
"Who did you think I was? Murphy or the other one? Ronan, I think it is." It was hard to keep track of who was who. Murphy was easy, though. Mainly because his girlfriend knew the guy. That and Bellamy liked the guy well enough, too.
Kenny was used to the whole facetwin thing. It wasn't the first time he'd seen it in town, although the other time, they didn't look like one of his future or AU kids. Now he had four of them - this guy and two facetwins, and some little girl who looked like another of his kids.
"Oh. You know how strange shit happens once in awhile?" he asked then continued. "Sometimes kids from the future or alternate universes show up. You and those other guys look like my kid with Death." He was glad it wasn't, although he didn't mind Damien too much. Probably because he was older and could take care of himself.
"But I figured you weren't since I'm pretty sure he wasn't into photography."
"I've been here almost five months," Jake states with a shake of his head. "So, I'm slowly becoming familiar with the strange shit that happens in this place." Murphy had definitely been one of the strangest things to ever happen to him. Then there had been Ronan. Sometimes he wondered how Octavia was able to tell them apart. Probably more to do with their mannerisms and how they acted around her. Though, he was sure that she hadn't met Ronan exactly, but he had.
At the mention of having a kid with Death, though, it throws him off for a moment. It wasn't like he knew everyone in Madison Valley. Hell, he's not even sure if he'd ever met Death or not. There were a few people that he had met, but that wasn't here nor there.
"What was he into?"
"That is pretty slow," Kenny commented. Sometimes he forgot others weren't used to weird shit. He'd dealt with that back home as well, so none of it surprised him. Bothered him, like the future kids did, but not really surprised him.
If Jake had asked if he'd ever met Death, he would've answered yes because she met everyone. Both when they were born and when they did. Unless they were like Kenny who died and came back often, then she would've met them multiple times.
"I don't know, I never asked," he shrugged. Yeah, he didn't really bother getting to know any of his kids whenever they dropped by.
"There's not been a lot of stuff to happen since being here."
Actually, he can't think of anything that had happened since he'd been there. That wasn't true. His own girlfriend and her brother had been turned into kids. Something that had been very damn weird. Where he'd been at before Madison Valley had been a bit more... strange and interesting.
He wasn't going to ask about Death. Not when he'd been dead back in his own world before he'd shown up in this place. Though, it was a bit weird to hear that the guy didn't know what his own kid liked. Maybe that was just the weirdness of the place.
"Just didn't get a chance to ask?"
Hopefully the guy wasn't one of those parents who just didn't give a shit. That would suck for a person. Especially a kid.
"Guess not. But then again, I don't really know the difference." So something weird could've happened, but Kenny was so used to it that he'd hardly noticed anything was off. He really didn't know what was considered weird and what was normal.
"I didn't bother," he replied with a shrug. Why would he? Damien and the other kids were only in town for a week. Some he'd see again, some he wouldn't. Besides, it wasn't like Damien would come into existence anytime soon. Death couldn't get pregnant. Maybe his AU self got to know his son/daughter, but this Kenny didn't bother.
"I think the last weird thing to happen here was having my girlfriend turn into a little kid."
That was the weirdest thing, to Jake, that had happened. Some would probably say other things were the weirdest for them. That just wasn't the thing for him. Maybe once he'd been there for a few years. Hell, he hadn't even known about future kids or anything like that. He does, however, know that if a parent disappears the kid is left behind.
He hadn't bothered. Well, that explained why he didn't know what his kid would've liked. He does, however, just give a bit of a nod," I'd say that I'm sure you'd get that chance, but I don't know if that's the case with this town or not."
"Oh, right. I stayed the same, but I think a few people I know had their ages changed too." He couldn't remember off the top of his head who had gotten younger or older, though. These type of events just didn't really bother Kenny so much, he just moved on and forgot about them.
"They usually come back every couple years or so." More or less, anyway. It wasn't like the dome had a set schedule for messing with them. "So yeah, there's still chances. But eh, why would I do that?" he shrugged. He couldn't be bothered getting to know someone he'd only see a week every couple years, even if it was his own kid.
"I stayed the same too and I'm glad for that."
The idea of having someone else take care of him didn't set right, not with him. Though, keeping an eye on his girlfriend and her brother had been a bit amusing. Not something that he's brought up. Why would he? It was a strange thing that happened in a strange place. He's pretty sure even weirder was the killer chickens. The place hadn't given him anything that wasn't weird yet.
"Sounds interesting," he states with a bit of a shrug. Though, he's trying to ignore that question. Or the fact that someone could be like that. No matter how many years or whatever the kid came back. "To each their own, I guess," he says instead. He'd want to get to know the kid. Their name, their likes and dislikes. Especially if they came back every couple of years or so.
"Good for you then," Kenny said in a flat voice. Though he did agree that having someone look after him wouldn't be so great. Despite having both parents, they were neglectful and weren't always there to take care of him and his siblings. So he had to take care of himself and having someone else do that was just weird.
"Sure," he shrugged. He didn't find it all that interesting nor did he care that he ignored the question. "Anyways, I'm gonna get going. Later."
