Who: Kaa & Mitch What: This is an emergency When: This evening Where: Apartment to someplace outside Warnings: Mention of snake! Status: Closed/incomplete
It was cold. Colder than anything Kaa had ever experienced. And snow! Only the gods have seen snow like this! It actually scared him, sent him to pacing his apartment in agitation. He would stop by the window to peer outside in anxiety, taking note of how quickly it was piling up out there. He kept wondering if he should take the opportunity now to put on every layer of clothing he had then head out for someplace better, but the warmth of the many space heaters in his apartment kept him here.
Then the power went out. Kaa could immediately feel the temperature dropping. He swore in as many languages that he knew as panic began to take root inside him. He had no choice, now. He needed to seek help for what was coming. That meant going out.
Kaa put on as many layers as he possibly could, wrapped his face in a scarf, put on the warmest hat he had then went out into the storm. The cold and snow hit him like a punch in the face. This was dire. Not good for him in any way. Kenzi. He had to get to Kenzi. She’d help. She might not know what to do, but he trusted her. That was what kept him putting one foot in front of the other, pushed him through the snow.
It didn’t last long, however. He could feel himself getting weaker. Tired. He wouldn’t be able to keep going much longer. His vision was dimming, and he knew what was happening. He needed shelter, and looked around for any kind of alcove. The first one he came to he all but fell into. Kaa wedged himself into a corner then curled his legs in. He didn’t know where he was, but it was too late to care about that.
Reality began to drift away, and Kaa closed his eyes. His breathing slowed along with his heartbeat. It was happening. He just gave in and let himself slip into his snake form. It would happen anyway. Better now while he could still control himself. The boa constrictor coiled in on himself beneath the mound of clothing for as much shelter and protection as possible...but he didn’t quite get all of himself in. A length of tail remained outside the clothing as Kaa fell into hibernation.
