Status: Closed | Complete.
It was Christmas morning, and Jack had just woken up in Greece beside a man he was completely in love with. A man he thought he'd lost forever. If there was one good thing about living in Madison Valley, it was being with Ianto. Ianto made life in the town completely worth it. Jack knew he couldn't keep the man forever, not when his forever was much longer than Ianto's, but he wanted to see his boyfriend become an old man.
He wanted to be there for Ianto for as long as he could.
He rolled over onto his side, wrapping an arm around Ianto's waist. His hand slipped under the sheets, fingers running lightly over the man's lower stomach. "Morning, my love," he murmured, his lips finding the other's, kissing him softly.
--
The sun had started to wake Ianto, but he didn’t really start to stir until Jack started to move. He shifted a bit under Jack and smiled in return. “Morning, cariad. Do we have plans for the day?”
If the plans were anything at all like the previous day, they wouldn’t be leaving the room, but Ianto would like to do a little sightseeing before they returned home. He wanted a few more memories with Jack besides ‘the inside of the hotel’. He wanted to make sure Jack had those memories as well.
“We should make our way to the beach at some point,” he murmured between kisses.
--
“We have absolutely nothing planned for the day,” he murmured softly. “Whatever you want to do, we’ll do.” Jack was usually quite obliging when it came to Ianto. He wanted to make the man happy, so he was usually agreeable to whatever the other man wanted. Usually. “I would like to see the beach…”
While he wouldn’t mind spending another day in the room with Ianto, they hadn’t come to Greece just to spend all day, every day in the hotel room. And they had plenty of time for that as well as going sightseeing.
“It’s Christmas and I have gifts for you first, though,” he told the man, and he pressed another kiss against Ianto’s lips. He could kiss Ianto all day if he could get away with it.
--
“And we are near this lovely one, with warm waters.” Which, from what he could tell, was pretty private as well. Spending Christmas at the beach was sounding better and better, which meant they’d had an excellent idea.
“Oh, that’s good, because I bought a few gifts for you as well.” Just a few, he hadn’t gone overboard for their trip. The rest though, were back in the TARDIS.
“Shall we open them now or after breakfast?”
---
“It depends on whether you’re breakfast or not,” Jack said with a smirk. He leaned in and pressed one more kiss against Ianto’s lips before rolling over to find the phone in their room. “What would you like for breakfast?” he asked. “I figured we can call for room service and open presents while we wait.”
He managed to find a room service menu by the phone, and handed said menu to Ianto.
“I would very much like to go to the beach after, too. Though I do burn easily…” he admitted. “I suppose that’s what sunscreen is for.” He rested his head on Ianto’s shoulder, peering at the menu he’d just given the man. “I want bacon, do they have bacon? And coffee.”
---
“Not breakfast, but I am always a gift.” Ianto snarked back as he took the menu. “They do have bacon, and it’s Greece. Of course they have coffee.” He was pretty sure it would be some sort of offense for Greece not to have coffee. Especially in a resort like this, they probably had a personal espresso machine somewhere in the room. Not that they had been bothered to look yet.
“Order me whatever you get, double up on the coffee. I think I am going to go try out that shower before the food gets here.” Because they would definitely get distracted between food and presents. And that shower was positively decadent.
---
Jack kissed Ianto softly, just where his shoulder met his neck. He couldn't resist kissing the man, not as long as Ianto allowed it. Of course, he knew when to not kiss him, but he also knew those moments were few and far between here.
"Go shower," he murmured against his neck. "I may not be so willing to part with you if you don't go soon."
He took the menu from Ianto, and glanced over it for a moment before reaching for the phone to order their breakfast. Which definitely included bacon and lots of coffee.
---
The bathroom wasn’t massive like in some hotels, but the shower definitely made up for it. There had to be room for a half dozen people to move around comfortably. Ianto was definitely making a mental note to talk with the TARDIS when they returned home.
He made himself get out of the shower when he heard the food arrived, and wandered out with a towel wrapped about his waist. “Coffee first, and then gifts,” he told Jack as he reached for a slice of bacon.
“This is the best idea you’ve ever had.”
---
“And here I thought the best idea I’ve ever had was being with you,” he said, smiling a bit at Ianto. “But yes, this was a rather good idea, if I do say so myself.” Jack had absolutely no qualms admitting that. He was rather enjoying himself in Greece, even though they hadn’t left the hotel room yet.
Sometimes it was nice to just be with Ianto. Without having to worry about anything else but Ianto.
He poured two mugs of coffee, and handed one to the other man. “You’re going to make me wait all day for presents, aren’t you?” he asked. He would gladly wait for Ianto’s presents, though, as long as he got to see the man lounging around eating breakfast in nothing but a towel.
---
“That wasn’t an idea, that was a life choice. And an excellent one at that,” Ianto replied as he took the mug. He was quiet for a moment, happily communing with the bean nectar, before he finally answered Jack.
“I wasn’t planning on it, I was rather hoping to get to them, and get to the thanking bit so we could head out into the sun.” Mostly because he was thinking about how cold it had been when they left, and it was so bloody warm here.
“Do you think they were lying about the fact that we couldn’t stay longer?”
---
“It was an excellent life choice,” Jack agreed. He took a sip from his mug of coffee, happily watching Ianto. He could watch Ianto all day, if he was allowed to do so. But, alas, there were things that needed doing more often than not. Unfortunately, Ianto wasn’t always on the list of things that needed doing, either. More often than not, yes, but not always.
“Well. We can always come back next month if they weren’t lying,” he suggested. “Or we can take a vacation each month, going to each of the places we’re allowed to go. Until we get back to Greece.” He shrugged at this. “I’ve never been to Disney World.”
Going to Disney World for the first time with Ianto would be fun. Possibly bad for the whole of the Disney corporation, but fun for Jack.
“I plan on thanking you profusely for the gifts. I don’t even know what they are yet, but knowing you? They’re going to be wonderful.”
---
“Neither have I, and I’m slightly terrified of going. I’ve heard stories.” Horrid stories, involving screaming mothers and crying children.
Ianto set aside his mug long enough to put on one of the nice robes that the resort had provided, and to grab a wrapped gift from the side table where he had put it the night before. He handed the box to Jack before picking up his mug and sitting on the bed.
“A very nice gentleman in town helped me acquire that for you. It was part of his father’s collection, and we did a bit of bargaining over tailoring for it.” He was rather proud of being able to get the man to part with it. “I have another gift for you back home, but it was a bit bulky to bring on vacation.”
---
Before opening the present Ianto had handed him, Jack handed a small package to his boyfriend as well. He had gone through a bit of trouble to find the perfect gift for Ianto, and he still wasn’t thoroughly convinced he had found the perfect gift for him. What he had brought to Greece with him was a set of white gold cufflinks, with the initials IJ and JH intertwined.
He then settled down on the bed beside Ianto, the wrapped gift Ianto had handed him in his possession. He opened the package, and was silent for a moment or two as he pulled the pocket watch out of the box. “It’s perfect,” he said, offering Ianto a small smile and leaning in to kiss him softly.
He knew he could count on Ianto to come up with perfect gifts. That’s just how he was.
”I love you,” he told the man.
---
Ianto ran a finger over the cufflinks, smiling softly. If Jack hadn’t made sure that there was a matching pair for himself, Ianto would take care of it shortly after getting home. He closed the box and set it aside, then reached out for Jack.
“I love you as well, cariad. Now let me show you how much I appreciate you and your gift,” he told his lover. The beach could wait a few hours.
