Radiation made Earth uninhabitable, so we grew up in space. Only thing on the Ark was the Earth books and what we learned in Earth skills.

That wasn't the horrible part to it all. Though, it is the reason that myself and those back home don't know much about the holidays, or how things are meant to be done.

I'm also pretty sure we're in the past too, but I haven't paid too much attention to the year here.
