As grateful as Ronan was to have Opal in Madison with him and Adam, it was also a pain to have Opal in town. Having both his psychopomps around made dreaming slightly easier for him, but having the childlike one around meant there was a responsibility to keep her out of sight. She wasn't a normal child afterall, with her goat legs and insatiable appetite for trash. He didn't have to worry so much about Chainsaw, who was capable of acting like a normally juvenile crow, but Opal took a lot more effort because he couldn't just leave her home alone, or send her to the park to entertain herself.
There was one person he could trust her with, though, if he was willing. And why shouldn't he be? Opal was a creature of his realm, when it came down to it. She'd come from Ronan's mind, and he'd pulled her out of his dreamscape rather than let her die in there, and while Dream didn't rule over Ronan's Dreams, he ruled over dreams in general. He at least wouldn't be weirded out by Opal's origins, or her behaviors.
The childlike creature looked up at him as he led her to Dream's door, her eyes big and wide. "Oh stop it, brat," Ronan said to her. "You met him when you were here before. Don't you remember that?" Ronan held her hand firm in his, and used his other hand to rap on Dream's door.
