There was a drug/corner store just some distance away (Sonya didn't trust leaving her alone otherwise if it would have taken longer). She looked at her still grumpy daughter and decided to see if she could buy a puzzle book or something small for her.
"Stay here, I'll be back in a few minutes." She left, holding Cassie's hand to keep her close.
She returned five minutes later; the place didn't have much, but she was able to get a bottle of water as well as some flavored fizzy water for Cassie (and something to help the pain in her leg).
"Here.." She handed the water to her. "Are you feeling any better?"
She said she just needed to wait it out, and for all Sonya knew this wasn't her responsibility-at the very least she wanted to make sure the girl was well enough to make it home.
