Log: Dean & Ben
Bens Arrival!
Dean Winchester & Ben Braeden.
Rating : Pretty low I think? Street Corner |
Madison Valley was definitely the strangest place he had ever been to. The rules of logic didn’t seem to apply to anything here. Comic book characters walked around freely and he was sure there would be others he’d be more than excited to see. Still, he was also surrounded by those he loved, feeling like an outsider looking in on their perfect lives. He felt like kind of a dick, declining the invitation for a family dinner, but there was no way in Hell he would sit there next to his mother, watching everyone else be happy. Was it selfish of him? Maybe a little.
Normally, he would have taken baby for a ride to clear his mind, but his prized possession hadn’t come over with him, unfortunately. So, he opted to take a long walk throughout the town and get himself better acquainted with it all. He had just turned the corner after passing the White Wyrm when he noticed someone who looked familiar. “Uh, hey, dude, how’s it going?” Dean questioned, staring at him curiously while he tried to place where he might have seen him. Another late night of video games with his friends when he should have been sleeping. One minute he’s shouting at the enemies through the television screen and the next..he’s outside? Outside in a place he had never been. He pinched himself and yep. He was definitely awake. Ben stood in the middle of the sidewalk, staring around him. “Crazy. I’m going crazy. Clearly. I was just playing video games. At night.” Maybe he really hadn’t been. Maybe he had really been asleep. Okay, this meant he was definitely a new arrival and not someone he had yet to meet already living in town. “Nah, you’re not going crazy, I promise. What’s your name? I’m Dean.” He had come across so many different faces in his life that he still couldn’t figure out how he knew the kid, but there had to be some kind of a connection between them, he was certain of it. There was a slight resemblance to himself, but nothing like the kid walking around who looked exactly like him. “I’m guessing you just got here and it’s a lot to take in, I know. I haven’t been here all that long myself.” A stranger asking a kid their name wasn’t weird at all. Okay that wasn’t a fair thought. It was dramatic and snarky but he was a little out of sorts. At least he had enough sense not to say it out loud. “Ben,” he answered, looking at him. He looked around and nodded when Dean guessed he just got here. “Where exactly is here? I was in my room playing video games and now I’m here.” His face went a little pale as if he had just seen a ghost, even though he was more than used to them at this point in his life. “Ben, right,” he nodded slowly, clearing his throat as if he had swallowed a fly. It made sense now why he seemed so familiar. “Well, uh, Madison Valley,” obviously, Ben didn’t recognize him given the decision Dean had made years ago. “Your mom isn’t here, so, I’m not really sure what happens to you. I guess we’ll find out soon, there’s some kind of a committee that greets all the newcomers. Pretty weird if you ask me, but, they give you some money and other shit, so that’s a bonus, right?” He looked down at Ben with a stupid smile, silently shouting in his head. “Madison Valley? Never heard of it. Definitely wasn’t on my bucket list,” he added. Wasn’t on his vacation itinerary or even anywhere near a list of places he wanted to visit. Still didn’t explain how he was here or even why. “She’s not? Wait - how would you know if she’s here or not?” Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck fuuuuuck. How the hell was he supposed to explain that one? “I, uh...well, you’re Ben Braeden, right? I mean, it’s been years since I saw you, you probably don’t even remember me. Anyway, I was at one of your birthday parties, a friend of your mom. You were like eight, I think, and you were pretty stoked because you had gotten-” no, he was telling him way too much. “I keep in touch with your mom, but it’s just like she-” nope, that was being fucking weird too. “You don’t remember me, but I promise, we’ve met before.” Ben looked at him confused. He knew his mom? How was he supposed to remember when he was eight. Well who was there anyway. “My first AC/DC album.” He remembered that. He still owned that CD. Just because he remembered a present he got at his eighth birthday didn’t mean he blindly trusted Dean. But in a strange place it was the only possible friendly face he had. “So uh, what now?” He seemed to accept his explanation and Dean was relieved. "Yeah, AC/DC," he nodded with a crooked smile. "Well, I think that-" in the middle of his sentence he noticed a familiar group of people heading towards them. "The people headed our way right now will get you situated and whatever. They can probably explain it better than I can anyway." He reached up to run a hand through his hair and then turned back to Ben. "Hit me up when you get settled and I'll help you out, alright?" “Yeah this isn’t weird or creepy at all,” he managed to say before they fully approached. More strangers. “Yeah, sure,” Ben agreed, suddenly having other people talking and asking him questions. |
