As much as Fitz loved teaching, there were times where he was very glad he was also in charge of the lab -- it was infinitely easier than wrangling students. He could go in and hide for a couple hours, work or grade papers or whatever, and then head home without a slow-growing headache. His students were great kids for the most part, they really were, but oof.
At the moment, though, he was standing in line at Starbucks because after the day he'd had he needed it.
Just needed to keep himself going for another couple hours -- the babysitter wasn't expecting him until later, and if he went home his brain would just keep spinning in circles. Therefore, coffee it was. He wasn't the world's biggest fan, but sometimes it just worked better than anything else.
It was late enough that the post-work rush had died down, but even so, there were still a few people in front of him -- enough people that he had time to give the menu board far more study than he needed to. He generally had the same thing, after all. But hey, maybe someday he'd have something different.
