It was a little surreal having Dean back again and wanting to know him. Not bad, just... yeah, surreal was a very good way of putting it, if you asked him. He'd take it, though, over what he'd been given before. Especially since he had a five-year-old daughter who would no doubt be asking questions. It'd be much easier to answer those questions now.
He'd figured that having Dean over for dinner was probably the easiest place to start -- he was a little gun shy about actually spending time around his brother, considering the number of times he'd had and lost Dean over the years. He was at a point in his life where it really wouldn't hurt if they didn't get along, considering that, but it would still bother him.
Katie had already been given dinner and put to bed; he'd introduce her to Dean, of course, but not right then and not unless dinner went well. He wasn't going to put his daughter in a position to get hurt again.
Dinner was going in the oven when the doorbell rang. He headed to the front door, smiling slightly as he answered it. "Dean, hey," he greeted as he stepped back and let his brother into the townhouse.
