Who: Shosanna Dreyfus and Dean Winchester.
Where: The Electric Lady.
When: Monday, September 7.
What: Dean meets Sammy's girlfriend.
Warnings: Likely lowish.
Status: Closed.

Shosanna had picked up a shift that Monday evening, because she knew some of her coworkers wanted to go to the last night of the fair. It was a relatively slow evening, seeing as it was both a Monday and a night the fair was in town. So when she noticed the door to The Electric Lady open, she was pleased. Even if was someone who only wanted a single drink or something, at least it was business.

She recognized Dean when he entered the bar, and she studied him for a moment. She didn't get a chance to know him all that well (or at all) the last time he was in town. She was determined to change that, though. This time, at least.

She grabbed a bottle of beer, the kind Sam drank (she assumed Dean would be okay with that brand) and approached the older Winchester. "Hello, Dean," she said, her voice soft and her French accent a bit thicker than usual. She was a bit nervous. "Fancy seeing you here."

His mother worked at some bar called the Electric Lady, which sounded more like a strip club than anything else. Dean couldn't help but be concerned over his mother's current job, but what could he do really? Naturally, her needed to check out the place for himself, even though he was sure his mother was more than capable of taking care of herself.

The bar was pretty empty and he sauntered through it casually, his gaze wandering around, hands tucked into his pockets. He had made sure his mom was off, watching her work would have been a little weird, especially if anyone tried to hit on her. He had just taken a seat at the bar when a woman approached and referred to him by his first name. She looked vaguely familiar, but he couldn't really place her.

"Do I know you?" At the very least, he knew he couldn't have slept with her. Unless it had been a casualty of the previous Dean.

"Shosanna Dreyfus," she said, smiling slightly at the man. No, she didn't expect Dean to recognize her as who she was. He had just arrived for the second time, without his memories of his first time in Madison Valley. It only made sense that he didn't know her. She set the beer on top of the bar, in front of Dean. "On the house."

No, she didn't make it a habit of giving away free drinks at work. She just thought Dean might need a beer or two in his system.

"I know you because of Sam Winchester," she explained. "He lives with me." As her boyfriend. She figured she likely didn't need to add that bit, though.

"Oh, right, the girlfriend." Dean commented, almost bitterly, though it had nothing to do with her and moreso his own issues. He gave her a nod and a smile, shifting about on the stool. Sam hadn't mentioned she was French, but they hadn't spent too much time talking about his relationship. Not when there were more important things to discuss.

"So, how long have you and Sammy lived together? Are you two planning to get married, pop out some kids, give me nieces and nephews?" Okay, maybe he was being a little bit of a dick, but, aside from Eileen, female relationships seemed to get in the way of everything. Then again, Sam had been dealing with a douchebag version of himself, so it made sense.

Shosanna could handle Dean being a bit of a douche. She understood that being new to Madison Valley was a lot to take in, especially when another version of yourself had been here before. When you had no memory of being here before.

"We have lived together for a few months. Shortly after Sam arrived here the second time. He and I knew each other the first time he was here." She shrugged a bit as she spoke. "He and I are not going to get married or have kids for some time at least. It's too soon to even be thinking about that."

But apparently it wasn't too soon for Sam to have moved in with Shosanna. She could handle living with him. She just wasn't ready for marriage and kids at the moment. Especially not children.

"Oh, only a few months, you're right, that is definitely too soon." Dean nodded in agreement, not really sure what he was supposed to say or how to interact with her. Again, Eileen had been the only girlfriend of Sam's that Dean had known and given they had been friends beforehand, it was much easier for him to ease into things.

"So, you work here with my mom, is that how you and Sam met?" Questions, show a general interest in the relationship. That was a good thing, right? If nothing else came out of it, at least he had a free beer out of the deal.

"Look, I understand that you don't know me. How could you, you just got into town. But Sam knows me, and he likes me. Can't you trust his judgment? And it's not like he just rushed into a relationship, either." She sighed softly, and looked up at the older Winchester. "I'm not going to hurt him, Dean."

She considered Dean's question for a moment. "He came here because Mary works here. Mary wasn't scheduled that day, but I was. We became friends. Now he's living with me and calls me his girlfriend."

She grabbed another bottle of beer from behind the bar, and placed it in front of Dean. "I know this is a lot to take in, but I promise, hurting Sammy is the last thing I want to do. I love him." That was something she hadn't even told Sam.

He blinked a few times, unsure what he had said to make her think he didn't trust the judgement of his brother. "Yeah, I know, it's cool. I'm just-" before he could finish his sentence she had placed another bottle of beer in front of him and he was more than happy to accept. If she kept that up, she would end up his new best friend.

As he finished off his beer he realized what she had just said. She loved him. Had Sam mentioned that to him? That he was in love with her? "I don't know how much Sammy has told you about our past, but I'm not used to being around him when he's in a relationship." Dean had been about to continue when something clicked in his head. Was he the reason that his brother couldn't be in any relationships? The two most important ones had developed while he was away from his younger brother, and once he returned, it all went to hell. Much like for him and Lisa, the only steady relationship he'd ever had.

"It's cool, don't worry, I have no plans to get in the way of you two."

"You're just needing time to adjust to life here. I get it, really." She offered Dean a small smile, and leaned against the bartop. "It takes some time to adjust to Madison Valley. Some more than others." She understood how hard it was to adjust to life here. "How do you like it here? I know it's different than your life back home. ...calmer, at least, for the most part."

She nodded at Dean's words, "I understand. Sam -- and you -- didn't have much time for relationships back home. It was more of a single life there, right?" So not only was Dean adjusting to life here, he was adjusting to the fact that his younger brother had a girlfriend.

"Thank you, I appreciate that. And I know you didn't want to move in with Sam and me, but you're more than welcome to stop by whenever strikes your fancy."

"Yeah, it's definitely going to be an adjustment, that's for sure." He agreed with a nod, taking a long drink from his bottle of beer. "It's calmer, and really fucking boring, but, my mom is here." Dean added wistfully, still unable to stop thinking of the last time he saw his mother, when he held her lifeless body in his arms. "Didn't really think I would get a third chance to see her, even if she is half my age and technically never gave birth to me."

His fingers tapped against the neck of the bottle and his gaze drifted off into the distance. "No, Sam had a few relationships. Only, I wasn't around when he was in said relationships. I mean, there was Eileen, but she was cool and I already knew her, so I didn't really see her as much of a threat-" Dean stopped instantly, working furiously in his head to back track that statement. "I mean, not a... just a... sure, I would love to come over and visit."

Shosanna eyed Dean for a moment. "And what exactly am I a threat to, Dean?" she asked. "Life in Madison Valley is different than the life you're used to. And I am not going to get in between the two of you. Siblings are important. I wish I had a chance to spend more time with my brother."

She offered Dean a small smile, "You definitely should. I know Sammy would like to see you as often as he can. I'm fairly certain he's missed you." She knew Sam had, actually. She knew Dean and Sam were close, and that not being able to get in touch with Dean had been hard on Sam.

"I'm glad I get to know you."

"You know what? I don't really give a fuck if you say life is different here." Dean snapped, angry with himself for letting the vulnerability slip out so easily. "I don't trust a damn thing until I can see it for myself, and even then? It can be gone in the blink of an eye." He tossed his head back and finished off the rest of the beer in one go.

"Can I get something a little stronger?" He hadn't meant to snap at her, but, at the same time, he didn't really feel like apologizing. The talk of relationships caused his mind to dig up memories of Lisa and Ben, memories he didn't want to face. "Yeah, it's great getting to know you too."

Shosanna remained silent for a moment, considering her next words. She thought she understood why he snapped at her. "I know," she said, after a moment. "I didn't take Madison Valley at face value, either. You don't know me, I can hardly blame you for wanting to see for yourself, and not just accepting the town just because of what I said."

She nodded at Dean's request, and stepped behind the bar. She wasn't a bartender, but she could handle pouring him a strong drink. She found two glasses and filled them with whiskey before placing one in front of the Winchester.

"I hope whiskey's alright."

"Yup, whiskey is just fine by me." Dean accepted happily and reached up to run a hand through his hair. This place was supposed to be better, and so far, he was emotionally exhausted. As if being confronted with this alernate reality wasn't enough, the current lack of things to do was serving to make him reflect on all his past mistakes.

"I'm sure this place is just fanfuckingtastic," he muttered under his breath and took another drink from the glass. "It's like Pleasant Valley two point o."

She didn't usually drink on the job, but she took a sip of the second glass of whiskey she'd poured. She felt she needed it, which was something she didn't usually feel. Shosanna tilted her head slightly at Dean's words.

"Tell me about Pleasant Valley," she suggested. "Only if you want to, that is." Dean could do whatever he wanted to do, of course. "Or... I don't know. Let's get your mind off things. I'll keep the whiskey coming, if you want."

"Huh, tell you about Pleasant Valley?" He looked at her in confusion, finishing off his glass. "Yes, keep it coming, please, that would be awesome." If he was drunk, he couldn't think about everything else. He was quiet for a bit and then finally spoke up again. "No, fuck, it was Pleasantville, and it's a movie, with, uh, Reese Witherspoon, I think? It's pretty old, though, there was this one time that Sam actually did go to a rather similar place and he ended up as someone's husband. Totally old school, like back in the fifties, I think, possibly sixties, I dunno."

He snorted in amusement as he recalled the information that Castiel had relayed back to him since he hadn't been there personally. "Anyway, on the outside, everything appears to be perfect and awesome. Eventually, the facade begins to disappear and you realize that it's not what you thought it was. So, yeah, this place is a lot like that."
