Who: Alec Lightwood and Open What: Grocery shopping When: Monday afternoon Where: Walmart Warnings: TBA Status: Open/On-going
Alec was probably one of the few people who hadn't been all that bothered by the 80s. His life hadn't actually been all that different, for one thing. For another, now that everything was back to normal he was mostly just imagining what his sister's response would've been. He'd decided that Isabelle's reaction would've largely predicated on what'd happened to her son. If she'd still had Max with her, then Izzy would've been fine with whatever. If someone else had had him for the week, unless it was somebody that she actually knew, his sister would've been upset.
It was a sign of how much he'd grown -- or how used to the town he'd gotten -- that he wasn't actively upset. The Alec Lightwood that'd arrived in town years ago would've been concerned and suspicious and a few other things all at once. But this was Madison Valley and really, a random trip to the 80s was probably one of the tamest things that'd happened even just while he'd been there.
His life normally was just as uneventful as it'd been during that brief trip, which meant the boring things like errands on his days off. He didn't always like admitting it but it was kind of nice having this life. It was something he'd never get to experience back home, and while he would never not want to be a Shadowhunter, it was nice at least getting to know a little of what the other side of life was.
Even if that other side of life included things like grocery shopping at Walmart during a busy part of the day, not necessarily his smartest move but also one he couldn't avoid. How was Monday afternoon this stupidly busy? He couldn't figure it out. Then again, he also wasn't trying terribly hard. All he really wanted was to get done and get out. Which meant getting around the idiot who'd decided that the middle of the aisle was the perfect place to have a conversation with some other idiot.
"Okay, seriously, not the time," he said finally. "You act like you two haven't seen each other in forever -- you're under a damn dome, it hasn't been that long."
He might have been channeling Jace there a little bit. Sorry not sorry.
