The knock on the door startled her at first and then Darcy simply sighed. Of course someone was here. With any luck, it wouldn't be an entire army. She appreciated her loved ones wanting to support her, but right now, she just didn't want to be around people.
When she answered the door and saw that it was Micah, and he was clearly prepared to be here for the long haul, she managed a tiny smile and stepped aside to let him in. "I guess there's no point in telling you that you don't need to be here," she said, knowing that he was easily as stubborn as she was despite not being her biological child.
