The past few months had been especially brutal for Wanda with the loss of her husband and a number of her close friends and teammates. It wasn't the worst thing she'd ever dealt with, that was the destruction of her city that took away her parents, but it was probably third behind that and Pietro's death. She was grateful that she still had Carl and Judith. Adopting them was probably the best thing she'd done here and she couldn't even let herself consider the thought of losing them.
Natasha's return was an additional bright spot, even though she didn't remember her previous time in town. A lot had happened over those years and Wanda knew that her friend deserved to hear about it from someone who knew her well rather than by running into someone that only knew her from Madison Valley.
It was good to see her, though Wanda hated how utterly exhausted Natasha looked. She'd heard about some of what they'd gone through during the years that she and the others were gone though it did not prepare her to see the impact it had on her friend. She was mostly quiet on the ride back to the farm, though she did share some basic facts about the town and mentioned that she didn't live alone.
When they got to the house, she left the keys in the truck so Carl could use it to take Judith over to Dawn's and give them some privacy. She gave the kids a quick hug as they passed while she led Natasha to the kitchen, grateful that her son had brewed a fresh pot of coffee while she was gone.
She poured them both a mug full before joining Natasha at the table.
"I'm not sure where to start," she admitted.
