That warm chuckle of his fell from Spike's lips as Buffy teased him right back, and after thinking on it for a second or two the vampire just offered a shrug. "If that's the price I'd have to pay to give my beautiful wife a proper sponge bath, well I guess I could make the time to clean the horses too. After all, it wouldn't do to go making em jealous, now would it?"
With that grin still holding sway William leaned back and relaxed a little. Content to let her enjoy the food as he nibbled on a few grapes and savored the warmth of the sun up above. Even in that shady spot it was impossible to miss just how good it felt to be out and about during the daytime. A feat that should have been completely impossible for his kind if it weren't for that ring.
Just hearing her voice once more instinctively drew his gaze back to her, and the thought of The Slayer leading around a tiny pony, with a little kid on it's back, at a birthday party just made his day. "Don't suppose they have you dress up like a cow girl, with a little hat and vest, for those parties? Think I'd have to swing by and get a pic of something like that. Can even pick you up a shiny plastic sheriff badge or something just to make the whole getup complete." It was the mention of no race tracks in town that drew a little nod, and even the faintest of frowns from her husband.
Oh Spike had given up most of his vices after both gaining his soul and becoming her champion. Still the prospect of watching a dog race at the tracks just reminded him of his time in London. "Still remember the first time the Greyhound races opened over at Wembley Stadium back in 1927 or so. Now that was something."
His trip down memory lane had William going quiet for a moment or two, but when she spoke up again the bleach blonde vamp shook the cobwebs away in his head and flashed her a soft but warm smile once more. "Oh I considered going back to the Den, miss working with Rogue and getting to chat with Vex when I'm on break. Still you're right bout trying my hand at something different. Plus if I get the job at the bakery, well the hours will be a bit easier when it comes to making more time for us. I'll be up and out right around the time you'd head into work here, and be back home when you're getting off too."
