It was Tuesday. Bright, sunny, people wandering the streets, a few clouds in the sky. Trees and flowers were blooming, there was green grass on the ground. Some days, Kendal just stood and looked at it all, because even after three months, it still shocked her at times that this was her new normal. That she could go outside whenever she wanted, she could sleep at night without having to worry about people breaking in and stealing their water. She even liked having to get a job. Because it meant that there was a future.
That she could just -live-, something she hadn't done since she was a kid.
Today was her long lunch day, so she headed over to Hinkles because she could grab something quick and go eat it in the park. And if she fed most of the bread to the birds and ducks, no one was around to tell her not to.
She was in line, playing a game on her phone (which she still got a lot of joy out of), so it took her a moment to notice who was in front of her. A raccoon. Walking on it's hind legs. In clothes. And no one else seemed to notice anything weird about it. She looked around for a moment, before looking back at the raccoon. It took another moment to sink in, but a walking, talking raccoon was totally normal for this place.
"Um, hi." Yeah, she had to say something to him. It was a requirement or something, she was sure K-Mart would tell her that.
