Who: Jack Harkness and Sam Winchester Where: Lou's. When: Friday, April 10. What: Jack hits on Sam. Warnings: Some talk of sexual things. Status: Closed | Complete
Jack hadn't been in town long and he'd already discovered Lou's. He wasn't usually a big drinker, but with being pulled into a new place unexpectedly... and then there was the whole Ianto being alive thing. He was definitely not complaining, though. He loved Ianto unlike he'd loved anyone else. It was just a lot to take in all at once.
Which was why he found himself at Lou's that evening. And as soon as he walked in, his gaze settled on a rather tall, attractive man. He wasn't completely sure about this man's sexuality, but he'd soon find out. And because of the relationship he and Ianto had, he knew him flirting (and maybe more) with this man would be okay.
"Hey," he offered the man, as he settled down beside him. "What brings you here tonight?"
Sam turned to face Jack when the man spoke to him. His eyes raked over him, finding him attractive. Sam would say he was straight, interested in women, but the fact was he was curious about men too. He supposed he had Leonard Snart to thank for that, because he hadn't ever really taken it seriously before he'd met Leonard. Sadly Leonard was one of the ones who was gone from Madison, but Sam's relationship with him had definitely opened Sam's eyes and a few doors that had been closed.
Which wasn't to say that Sam looked at Jack and immediately wanted to make out with him. Not at all. But he noticed that Jack was good looking, and he had a certain twinkle in his eye that spoke volumes. Sam held out a hand in greeting. "Checking out the competition, because I work over at Verdant." Lou's wasn't really in competition with Verdant, but sometimes when Sam wanted to get a drink, he didn't want to go to Verdant. So he was at Lou's.
"Oh?" he said, smirking slightly. "I suppose I need to find employment myself..." He hadn't really given it much thought, not really. He knew he'd need something, but he still had time. He offered Sam a small smile as he shook the man's hand. "Captain Jack Harkness," he told the man. He always introduced himself that way. He couldn't help it.
"I'm glad you decided to drink here tonight. I'd hate to have been drinking alone tonight." Of course, he'd come here alone. So if he'd ended up drinking alone, that would have been okay.
"Let me buy you a drink," he offered.
Sam nodded toward the empty glass on the table. he wouldn't refuse a free drink. "I work at Verdant." Sara had rehired him without hesitation, when he'd come back to Madison. He was grateful.
"Captain, huh? I'm Sam." Captain could be an actual title, or not. It was hard to say. So he'd ask. "Captain of what, if I may be so bold?"
Jack motioned toward the bartender, and ordered two more of whatever it was Sam was drinking. He had no what he'd just ordered, but he wasn't picky in the slightest. Alcohol was alcohol.
"I was in the military for a long while," he admitted. Though he left out just when that was. "Some habits are hard to break." Line referring to himself as Captain.
"Nice to meet you, Sam. Have you been in town long?"
Sam was drinking a simple whiskey. He wasn't one for elaborate or fancy drinks.
"Fair," Sam nodded. That was a good enough reason to use the title. Sam didn't mind it one bit. It didn't really concern him in any case. He was just curious.
"That's a difficult question to answer. I first remember being here in February, six years ago. I went home a few times, for just a few days, but about nine months ago I went home, and just showed up back in Madison about a week and a half ago." He wasn't entirely sure how to answer the question. He remembered being in town more than six years ago, but he'd been gone for s long this last time he wasn't sure he could say he'd been in Madison all that long.
Jack eyed Sam for a bit. "I didn't know that happened here. People coming and going. But I've only been here a week or so, so there's a lot I don't know about Madison Valley. Except that it brings in people from different times."
He had learned that quite quickly. With Ianto, Martha, the Doctor.
He thanked the bartender when their drinks were set before them. "Tell me, Sam. What's an attractive man like yourself doing here alone? Besides checking out the competition?"
Sam shrugged. He had plenty of friends in town he could be hanging out with. Sometimes he just needed to have a little time on his own.
"Sometimes drinking alone leads to interesting conversations with complete strangers." It was true enough. And a good reason to go out on his own once in a while.
"Well, I do hope I prove to be interesting," he said, smiling slightly. "I hate to be a complete bore." That much was true, at least.
"I completely understand through. I came here alone, so it's not like I'm judging or anything."
"Lou's is a good place to come to drink alone," Sam said. "Or to find an exceptional conversation partner." He gave Jack a once over for effect.
"So, do you like to be called Jack, or Captain, or something entirely different?" It seemed like a valid question, and one he wanted an answer to before he tripped up and made a fool of himself.
"Or maybe even someone to have a little fun with?" he asked with a smirk. He took a long drink from his whiskey, before considering Sam's question.
"Most people just call me Jack. It just became a habit to introduce myself as Captain." He shrugged slightly. "Captain Harkness sounds better than Mr. Harkness."
"That too," Sam said with a little wink and smile. He wasn't the most adept at flirting, but he was getting strong vibes.
And really, he didn't think anything would come of it. They were just two guys, randomly chatting over drinks in a bar. Drinks that one of them paid for.
Maybe there was more to this guy than Sam had originally thought. While he wasn't looking for anything, it was kind of nice to have a stranger paying attention to him.
Jack liked to flirt. He liked a lot of things similar to flirting as well. So when Sam seemed agreeable to his comment, he was a bit pleased.
And Jack hadn't been looking for anything when he came to Lou's that evening. But he wouldn't be opposed to anything happening.
"...do you find yourself attracted to men?" he asked, deciding to be up front. "I'll try not to flirt if you're not."
"No, it's fine." Sam shifted a little, giving his full focus and attention to Jack. "I prefer women, not gonna lie. But I've...well. I'm open to new experiences." And it wasn't entirely new. He had fooled around with Leonard, after all.
"So please, don't hold back. like the attention."
"Well. Since we're being honest... I like women as well as men. I've never been one to discriminate based on gender." He took another drink from his glass. "And the man I'm in a relationship with arrived in Madison Valley the same day I did." And there was another long drink from the whiskey. "We sleep with other people on occasion, though."
He eyed Sam for a moment. He had wanted to be up front with the man, so there'd be no surprises later.
"Let me buy you another drink." He motioned toward the bartender once more, ordering two more drinks. And once the bartender went to fill their glasses, Jack leaned in and kissed Sam, softly.
Sam realised what Jack was going to do a moment before their lips met. He may have made a small sound of surprise, but it wasn't shock or disgust. Not in the least. Sam leaned forward just a bit, a hand moving to the nape of Jack's neck.
His eyes closed and he gave in to the sensation. It was entirely different rom kissing Shosanna. He had a momentary pang of feeling like he was cheating on her, but really, there was no reason for it. They weren't even actively dating. They were just...good friends who were happy to see each other again. Maybe there was potential for more, Sam hoped so, but for now there was nothing to stop him from indulging a little here and now with Jack.
Jack was pleased by the small sound that came from the other man. And the fact that he seemed quite receptive to the kiss. It encouraged him to deepen the kiss slightly. His fingers ran through Sam's hair as he kissed the man. He was more accustomed to Ianto's length of hair, but decided he liked Sam's as well.
"Attractive and a good kisser," he murmured softly. "Next thing you'll tell me is you're also good in bed." He smirked a bit at this, and kissed Sam once more.
"Would you be opposed to getting to know each other a bit better?" he asked, as he reached for his new drink. He rested his hand on Sam's thigh as he took a drink.
"I mean, that's what I've been told," Sam said with a wink and a grin. He certainly didn't recall anyone being disappointed. At least not in recent years.
"I definitely would not be opposed to getting to know each other a bit better," he added. Why not? Maybe they'd become friends. Friends with benefits, even. Time would tell.
Jack would definitely not be opposed to friends with benefits. Not in the slightest. Sam was an attractive man, he would be crazy not to see that.
"Have you ever been touched by a man before?" he asked, merely out of curiosity. "... because I can certainly change that, if not. Or even if you have..."
Jack was not one to be shy about what he wanted. Not at all.
"I have," Sam nodded. "But it's been a while," he added. He didn't mention that it was a thing that only happened in Madison, and not in his life back home. That was irrelevant, and not something he felt inclined to share.
"Shall we finish our drinks then go somewhere a little more private?" Hopefully Jack had a place they could go. No way Sam was taking Jack back to the house.
"Do you know what a TARDIS is?" he asked. "Or, rather, have you seen that blue police box in town? That's where we're going to go. ... it's bigger in the inside, I promise." He figured there would be a room they could use. He wasn't going to take him to the room he shared with Ianto. That would be pushing it.
He took a drink from his glass and studied Sam for a moment. "I'm older than I look. Does that bother you? Death and I do not seem to like each other very much."
Sam shook his head. "I don't know, but I'll be interested to see it," he offered. He was always up for new experiences. Part of him wondered how he ended up in this situation so quickly, but part of him was flattered by Jack's interest in him too.
"Death is...a...not a friend, exactly," he said. He really had no idea how to define his relationship with Death. "I've technically died a few times, but." He rolled a shoulder. "I'm still kicking."
"Death doesn't seem to stick. I can die, but I don't stay dead." He shrugged a bit at this. He knew it was unusual, but it was just who he was. There was no changing that.
He downed the rest of his drink, and placed a few bills on the bar to cover the drinks he and Sam had consumed. He then leaned in to kiss Sam quickly.
He was definitely pleased by the outcome of tonight.
"It's like there's a revolving door or something," Sam said. He didn't know many people, aside from his brother of course, who died and didn't stay dead. Being dead at home but alive in Madison like Jo was, wasn't the same thing.
He downed the remainder of his drink in one quick swallow. he didn't want to waste it after all, since Jack had paid for it. He made a mental note to pick up the tab next time. By then he should be making decent money at Verdant.
Jack didn't mind buying the drinks for himself and Sam. He wouldn't have offered if he had minded in the slightest. Just like he wouldn't have minded if Sam had opted to leave with him before finishing his drink.
He rose from his seat at the bar, and offered Sam a small, mischievous smile. He was looking forward to the night ahead. Sam was an excellent kisser, and he looked forward to see what else Sam would be excellent at doing.
