WHO: Isak Valtersen & Isaac Lahey. WHAT: Random meeting of the Isaac/Isaks. WHEN: Sunday afternoon. WHERE: Jendry's. WARNINGS: None, really. STATUS: Closed / Matchup / Completed gdoc.
Isak had been keeping busy ever since Carlos left, either working at the arcade or doing his college work. If he was honest with himself, he was doing it on purpose. He kept himself busy so he wouldn't have to think about his loss too much. Maybe he should face his problems sooner rather than later, but for now, he was just going to keep himself occupied for as long as he could.
Because he'd been so busy, he hardly checked the network anymore. Just every so often. He was at the pizzeria, eating a slice, while he caught up on his smartphone. He wasn't too surprised to see the Dome was up to its craziness again. At least he was fine and as far as he knew, his friends were okay too. He hoped they were, anyway.
But still, it sucked for those who were affected, or it would suck once they're back to normal. But there wasn't anything anyone could do right now. He just shook his head and took a sip of his coke.

Isaac wasn’t affected by the weirdness either, and he was glad about that. He’d had enough weirdness back home in Beacon Hills and he was done with that. He probably wouldn’t be able to skip it forever, but for now he was grateful that the sentient city in which he’d found himself had given him a little bit of mercy. He didn’t expect for it to happen again.
Starving (he was a teenage boy and a werewolf, after all), he made his way to Jendry’s to get himself some pizza. It was crowded, so he looked around and saw a seat next to a guy he’d never met before - but that was nothing weird in Madison Valley.
He carried his overloaded tray over to the guy and caught his eye.
“Mind if I sit?”

Isak was glad he wasn't affected either. Sometimes he wished he knew why certain people did and some didn't, if there was some sort of pattern or something. He wondered a lot about that sort of thing, but at the same time, he didn't want to think too much on it. Maybe there wasn't any sort of pattern at all and he was just wasting time trying to figure it out.
He'd been so caught up in his thoughts that it took him a second to realize the guy in front of him was speaking. "Sorry," he quickly said before nodding. "Sure, go head." He moved his things a bit so the guy had some room. "Don't think I've seen you around. You new in town?"
***
“Yeah, I’ve only been here a few weeks.” He sat down his stuff and held out himself. “I’m Isaac.” A lot of people knew he was a werewolf around here. He wasn’t making it public, but he wasn’t trying to hide it, either. The pack would protect him if anyone got werewolf-hunting happy. He was pretty sure this guy didn’t know, though, and so he wasn’t going to offer it up. Nonetheless, his hand was warmer than a normal person, and his grip stronger. Those were things he couldn’t help.
“Did you get screwed up by the latest weirdness?”
***
"Figured." Sometimes he could just tell who was new and who'd been here before. He just never knew how long.
He couldn't help but grin a little as he shook the other guy's hand. "That's kinda funny. My name's Isak, which is pretty much the Norwegien version of Isaac. Just obviously pronounced a little different and spelled different." But when it came down to it, it was pretty much the same name.
"I was just actually catching up on that," he held up his phone quickly, which still had the network up. "Nah, not this time around. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones this time."
***
“Yeah, us lucky ones who had to put up with all the weird garbage,” he said, sitting. He rolled his eyes. “I knew something weird was happening from the start and while I’m glad it didn’t happen to me...well, I’m just glad that things are over now, you know?”
He bit into a hamburger, finishing it in two bites, and then another one. He was starving, and his werewolf metabolism wasn’t helping.
“So how long have you been here? I’ve been told people have been here almost seven years.”
***
"Kinda sucks on both ends when you think about it." Sure, he hadn't been affected, but he did have to see others go through it. As far he knew, though, no one he was too close to seemed to have been affected. This time, it just seemed to have come and gone.
"You seem pretty hungry," he commented lightly, noticing how fast Isaac ate his burger, before he answered. "Yeah, a few have been here that long. Me, I've been here for about two and a half years, almost three."
***
“Yeah, well, I have a fast metabolism,” he said. Being a werewolf did have its advantages. He could eat anything he wanted. And somehow he’d gotten abs without really working out for them. He was pretty sure that was one of they best parts of it.
“I don’t know how I feel about being here,” he said with a sigh, finishing off his second burger. “The girl I was in love with, who’s dead back home, is here. So that’s cool. But she was with someone who got sent home, so that’s not cool.”
He shrugged.
“I mean, it’s not like I’ve ever really had a home so I don’t have a home to miss, you know?”
***
Isak just shrugged. Yeah, that was probably it - just a fast metabolism or something like that. Still, he did ate the burger rather quickly, more quickly than he'd seen anyone eat a burger before. But since Isaac didn't say anything more about it, Isak didn't ask about it either.
"It's mostly up and down for me. Right now, I'm not a fan of this place." Sometimes he could deal with being here, other times, he hated it. Losing people was the worst part or missing people from home. "Sounds pretty complicated," he added, making a face. He had no idea what he'd do in that sort of situation.
"No? Not even with friends or anything like that?" Isak didn't have the best home life growing up, but he did have a group of friends, which was like a home away from home for him.
***
“Not really,” he said. “There was sort of a pack of us, but then when Allison died…” He waved a hand to indicate that everything had just fallen apart around him. “So I went to France with her dad. Got in with some people, I guess, but never really let myself get close to them. Seemed like I’d only lose them again.”
He shrugged. His past was depressing and he didn’t really want to think about it. He grabbed another hamburger and ate it in two bites, then another.
“Sorry. I think I’m going to need to get some more of these.”
***
"Sorry, man," Isak said, frowning slightly. He guessed this Allison was the aforementioned girlfriend and he didn't blame Isaac for not wanting to get too close to anyone right now. He was kind of in the same boat, not wanting to get too close because he'd probably just lose them.
The guy was a pretty quick eater. Isak was starting to wonder if it really was just a fast metabolism or something else. But he didn't say anything about that - or about Allison - and instead, he just nodded. "It's fine. I should get going anyway. See you around."
