WHO: Jason Grace and Fili WHAT: Fili comes in to ask for a job WHERE: London Starr Metals WHEN: Saturday afternoon WARNINGS: tbd, low most likely STATUS: Closed/Gdoc and finishing in the comments
Jason liked his job. He liked having something to do, and he liked working with Leo. He knew he’d never be half as good at the forge as his friend, but he wasn’t jealous. They both had things they were good at, and he was just happy that Leo had found something here that let him work off his considerable energy and talent. And he was perfectly happy to stay up front and help people find the proper weapon and keep everything in order. He was used to keeping things in order, as praetor. It was a big part of what a leader did.
It was a very slow afternoon, and Jason had already been around the shop several times making sure that everything was spotless and in shape. Convinced that it was, he was reading his assignment for History, looking up every few minutes to make sure that nobody had snuck in without his knowledge.
He had about four hours left on his shift, but it was okay. He didn’t mind sitting here and watching the store and making a little money. It was nice to have.

Today was the day, Fili was going to walk into London Starr Metals and hopefully come out with a job. He didn’t want to crowd the other two that worked there, but during his first stay in Madison he had appreciated and liked working at the forge.. Stepping back inside the small store, the bell above the door chiming (again, it was a very punctual bell) Fili looked over at the unknown blonde man behind the counter pouring over an open book. Realizing this must be the Jason that Master Leo had spoken of, Fili walked over to the counter, luckily tall enough to see over it. “Hello, is Master Leo around today? I had a question I wanted to ask.”

Jason looked up when the bell rang and smiled as the dwarf came closer. His words confirmed what Jason had already guessed - this was Fili, the dwarf who had called Leo a Master and who had wanted to work here. Or had worked here before. Or whatever.
“Leo’s not here right now,” he said. “He ran out to get some few things and some lunch. He should be back soon, though. I’m Jason. I know about the swords, but not really how to make them so you probably want to wait until Leo gets back.”

“Oh no, Master Jason, you misunderstand me. I have plenty of swords.” Really, there should’ve been a support group for people like Fili, the guy really did dig his swords and all other sharp stabby weapons. “I was actually hoping to discuss possible employment here.. But, I don’t want to take any work from either you or Master Leo. I just feel lost without the forge.”
It was true, what was Fili going to do otherwise in the land of Madison? He had been gone in the blink of an eye back in Middle-earth and returned years later to a changed Madison Valley. Plus, so many stores and shops had such high counters, there was no possible way he could comfortably work retail (or make those little fancy coffee drinks without scalding his beard).
