Who: Micah Sanders and Leo Fitz
What: Old friends and geeks get together
When: Saturday afternoon
Where: Fitz's house
Warnings: TBD
Status: Closed/Ongoing

It wasn't the first time Micah had hung out at Fitz's, because he was a bit worried about his friend, but the first time that the weather was nice enough for the girls to be playing outside. So Micah had helped bundle the girls up and was watching them play in the yard, Rowan doing her best to follow after Eleanor. This was the sort of thing that people around here were suppose to have, but without significant others and loved ones being dragged away from them.

"How are you really holding up?" he asked Fitz, not taking his eyes off the girls. He had learned his lesson during all the kid weekends, that the younger they were, the more ninja they were. "And not the crap you have been giving everyone else."

Yeah, he had grown up a bit.

Fitz sighed. "I'm fine as long as I don't actually think about it," he said. "Which means I've been doing a lot of stuff like sleeping on the couch because sleeping in my own bed hurts too much."

It was better than he could've been doing, honestly, and at least he had the girls to distract him when he was home. Besides, it wasn't like this was the first time he'd had Jemma get sent home on him. It was just the first time she hadn't come back. There was still hope.

Even if he wasn't really hoping. Did that make him a horrible person? He didn't know and wasn't sure if he cared.

Micah had seen people disappear, he had even been one, but rarely had he seen anything on this level. And it didn't look like any of them were coming back.

"Well, when you're ready, just say the word and I'll help you move things around." He paused and then nodded. "Or even move, if you decide to do that."

He was sure that plenty of people in town would help Fitz out if needed.

"And if all you want to do is get drunk and mope, I can help with that too." Because sometimes that was needed, he'd done it himself back home.

"One of these days I'll be used to you being old enough to drink," Fitz said with a laugh and a slight shake of his head. "God, the things that've changed in the past few years. At least you're on of the better ones."

Because as much as it sucked having Jemma no longer there? At least he still had a lot of his people, and he had Micah back, and he was trying to look on the bright side even if he wasn't always doing very good at it. Or ever doing very good at it, honestly.

"I'm probably going to move things around... well, it's either be soon or in six months after I've gotten ridiculously depressed for days on end."

"Maybe I'll get Mom and Aunt Jo to help me do it one day while you're at work." Because the three of them were like that. And he would just have to drop a few hints to make it happen.

He might need to get some more muscle to help move things.

"I don't think anyone is ready for me to be old enough to drink, even though I would be almost the same age if I hadn't left." He still got strange looks in town. "Not to mention getting a job, and my own place." There was a small smirk there as he kicked a ball back towards Eleanor.

"Heck, I could have three or four kids back home for all anyone knows."

"... that's a terrifying thought," Fitz said dryly. "Please tell me you don't. As much as I adore you, I really don't want to be Uncle Fitz yet even though it's across worlds."

Things that really only made sense to anyone who'd ever been there. Such were their lives.

"And Johanna's ready for it, but that's just because she's been on Child Corruption Duty since we first started playing babysitter roulette with Molly." He winced. "Damn it. Sorry."

That probably hadn't been the best conversational move.

There was a wince from Micah too, but fora totally different reason.

"At least Jemma is alive back home, so you get a chance to do this all over again with her." There was so much more behind that statement, so much he hadn't thought about in months.

"No kids, though, I promise you that. Or at least none I know about."

"Yeah, but home's complicated in a whole bunch of other ways." Fitz smiled wryly. "Though I think basically everybody can say that one. It's... well."

He honestly didn't even want to think about a relationship with Jemma back home. Wasn't sure if he even wanted that anymore. A large part of him thought that maybe that was probably just the trauma talking, was almost definitely the trauma talking, but there was enough to it that he wasn't sure of to make him not want to deal with it for a while.

This was just one of the many reasons that having Micah around helped -- worrying about his friend would always be easier.

Micah was quiet for a bit, just watching the girls play, and thinking about everything that happened. It was hard to have shown up here to find out that Molly had went home. He just held on to the fact that she'd had a great life here, and up until the summit, her life back in their world had been pretty damn great as well.

He finally sighed, looking down at the ground. "Molly's dead, back home. She, um, she killed herself to help save the world. I haven't told mom yet."

Fitz paled. "Oh, shit," he said, the words barely audible. "Does anyone here know?" He wanted -- needed -- to know just exactly how careful he had to be with what he said.

Because Molly had meant a whole hell of a lot to a good bunch of them in town, a lot of whom were still there. The last thing they needed was to find out by getting it accidentally dropped on them.

"And... it did help, though, right? What she did?" Dumb question, he knew -- at least probably -- but he needed to hear Micah actually say the answer.

Micah shook his head, not looking up. "No one else knows, I just... How do you tell people that?" Other than him blurting it out to Fitz, but that was normal for them.

That was the only good thing about it all, was that their plan was a whole lot easier to counter without Molly.

"Yeah, it helped. They weren't able to track down EVOs anymore. And they were able to find me and unplug me from the damn system as well. Parkman, the one guy that should have been protecting us, was keeping me drugged and hooked up, working for the same people that kidnapped her."

"I definitely recommend leaving that part about Parkman out of the story whenever you do tell people," Fitz said. "Just in case he ever show up. I don't know if we'd want an immediate lynch mob. Might be better to lull him into a false sense of security and then do something about it."

A shrug. "Then again, my advice may or may not be solid, I am the guy who tried to suffocate Grant Ward."

A beat.

"Wait. Did I get sent home for that one while you were here or was that after you got sent back?" Things blurred a little sometimes and he felt terrible about that.

"That might have been before I was ever here. Or that I remember being here." Because he was pretty sure that he would remember finding out something like that. Then again...

"Or just no one told me about it. I was a good kid sometimes, and I didn't read private messages or texts." Even if some people had wanted him to do that.

Fitz shook his head. "God, I don't even know what's what at the moment. It's all been a little blurry since Jemma... since she left."

He gave a laugh that was much more hollow than anything else. "You know what really sucks? The picture wall in there." He nodded back towards the house. "We never stopped doing that."

Their Daisy, when they'd known her as Skye. Steve. Sean. Clint with his family. The second Daisy who'd been in town. The third Daisy. Johanna with all of them. Melinda, with her family. So many others. As much a graveyard to the gone as it was a showcase of those still there.

"I'd avoid... I think it's the corner by the TV," he said after a second's thought. "That's where she is." He'd thought about taking Molly's pictures down when Micah started coming around but couldn't bring himself to do it.

Micah would have been worried if they had stopped doing the photo wall. It had always been fun to run around and take pictures of their people. It was part of keeping the others close.

"It's okay, Mom has pictures up. It's good to see her... She was happy here, no matter what. And she had family, which was more than either of us had back there." He'd had connections, but he couldn't be with his family, hadn't seen his cousins in years. And he was happy to have it again.

"And you'll get to update my pictures."

"Figured I'd warn you, though," Fitz said as he watched the girls. "Just... just in case, y'know? Just in case."

He laughed slightly. "And ugh, do I have to update your pictures? You were such an adorable small child, can't we just remember you that way forever?"

He was glad that Micah was back, though. So glad. He just wished that Jemma were still there to see the young man.
