Who: John Grimm and The Doctor (13) What: Date night Where: The TARDIS When: Saturday Evening, February 8th Rating: R (for sexual situations) Status: Closed and Complete
A bit of downtime was always welcome; and the Marine found himself earnestly having fun simply sitting there on the couch, watching a movie for the first with genuine interest, as John’s hands focused on massaging the Doc’s foot as her legs rested over his own.. Truth be told Grimm had never really seen much in the way of films or tv shows. Even now his apartment lacked a television to watch one on too. For the most part he favored either reading or cleaning his gear to pass the downtime. But as ‘How to Steal a Million’ played on the screen Reaper found himself looking on with a smile.
The day had already been a peaceful one from the start. Fishing with the Colonel at the crack of dawn. Going from a jog and getting some training in before lunch too. All in all, things had been blissfully uneventful which suited his retired lifestyle just fine. When she swung by for dinner, with that blue box just appearing in his living room once again, John figured they’d just share a meal and some conversation. Yet the offer to come watch a film with her had been too good to pass up. Oh the Marine still hesitated a little when it came time to enter the TARDIS, mostly because the ship was sentient and a tad temperamental. Still in the end he took the Doc’s hand and followed her inside.
Finding a 70’s style den in the ship should have surprised the man, however it was hard to be shocked by a living room when he had already seen a swimming pool upside down in another part of the vessel. The sofa was comfy though, and the popcorn smelled good, so without hesitation John took a seat. Twenty minutes in, and half the bowl of popcorn gone, Reaper warmly laughed while watching the movie. That smile reaching his eyes as the Marine glanced over to her for a moment, those fingers continuing to lightly massage her left foot all the while, before he turned his gaze back to the tv screen.
--
It had been a long time since the Doctor had done something like this too. Having companions and traveling was what she usually did to pass the time and, on occasion, worked on maintaining the TARDIS. Sure, there was that time when she had been stuck on Earth guarding Missy, but that had been hundreds of years ago now for her. Being on a couch and watching a movie she enjoyed was refreshing. Having John there made things even better and the fact he gave a wicked foot massage didn't hurt either.
It was fun to watch John's reactions. The Doctor found herself watching him more than the movie. She had lots of movies to choose from in the TARDIS, not all of them from Earth, but she thought this selection was enjoyable and accessible. It seemed she had been right. It wasn't quite the same as bringing someone to a new place or time, but she discovered she enjoyed introducing John to some of the simple things humans in the 21st century took for granted.
Her eyes were on him when he laughed and it brought a smile to her lips. They didn't speak a lot about their past and she had said more than he had, but she wondered how much laughter had been in his life before Madison Valley. Then John's fingers hit the right spot on her foot and her eyes fluttered closed for a moment before his laughter brought her attention back to him again.
-- Before tonight Grimm had never seen much point in spending time watching things on a screen. Yet as the film played on the man became genuinely engrossed with the story as it unfolded. The fact that the movie was around eighty years old, from his timeline, didn’t lessen it in any way. Plus between the tasty popcorn, and getting to share in the Doc’s company again, John was quite content.
Before arriving in town the former Space Marine hadn’t really laughed or even smiled often. His usual stoic nature kept Reaper at arm’s length from just about anyone. Including his own squadmates and even his twin sister too. However being around the Doctor was ease, and he found himself far more at ease in her presence then he did the rest of the time. Sure he still barely said much most of the time; still kept silent and merely listened more often than not as the blonde talked about her day or her adventures. Oh he would’ve answered honestly any question tossed his way, but John was quite comfortable just sitting there in silence.
Sitting there and having real fun watching a flick he had never seen. While doing his best to work out any tension the Doc had built up during the day. Especially since she was always so keen to run wherever she went for the most part.
--
As the movie went along, the Doctor began to list in her mind other movies she wanted to show John. She was sure some of the genres he wouldn't like, but discovering his preferences sounded like fun and something close to an adventure in Madison Valley. She wondered if he would hate science-fiction or not. The one nice thing about Madison Valley was that they had plenty of time to explore things like this. Life would get in the way normally.
"I'm glad you're liking it." It was more than halfway done now, but the Doctor felt the need to say it out loud to him. While she liked to live her own adventures, reading and visual stories were a good way to experience things in-between. Now it was even more interesting considering that the Doctor suspected most, if not all, worlds presented in stories had their own universe.
-- It was the sound of her voice that pulled John’s focus away from the tv, and with a chuckle the Marine found himself nodding his head. “It’s an interesting movie to be sure, and I like getting to see a bit of how things used to be.” Just the sets alone; that fascinating music, and the fashion everyone was wearing too, it all was captivating. Maybe it was because he had grown up in cold sterile places like the gray metal frames walls of the Mars Base, or the same muted grays of the UAC military barracks too.
All of it, every place he had ever lived or really spent any time at, had been devoid of anything truly colorful or eye catching. Even the fashion in his day was all about being practical, and not about style at all. Which might have been a part of why John had chosen to buy a suit based on the Doc’s preference for the color blue...since all Grimm had ever really worn before was black or gray. “Did they really dress in tuxedos like that? Or have places filled with so many colors?”
--
“Sometimes, yeah. Though you have to remember that coloured television was still new back then so they liked to make their sets as colourful as possible. It’s why they changed Dorothy’s shoes from silver to red in the Wizard of Oz.” Another movie the Doctor enjoyed, perhaps because it dealt with traveling to other lands. “Thinking of getting a tuxedo like that, are you John?” She was mostly joking, her eyes bright and matched the smile on her lips. Truth be told, the Doctor had never had much concern for what other people wore. She liked John's choices of clothes - they were rather distracting on occasion, actually.
She glanced to the screen to see them stealing the statue. She paused until Hepburn was hiding and then she spoke again. It seemed as if she had broken the seal for conversation and the Doctor was unable to help herself from talking now. "She hated that costume, you know. Itchy. Used subpar material."
-- As she spoke up Reaper simply listened intently, taking it all in and never once doubting her word. Oh there was no denying that the Doc could’ve just made stuff up to mess with him, but earnestly John just took her at her word because he trusted her. “That makes sense. Though I’m not familiar with the Wizard film.” The question of a tuxedo was met with silence for a moment; Grimm considering it carefully, all while his gaze lingered on the tv and his hands gently set her foot down on his lap, only to pick up the other and start anew.
At last though the Marine offered up another nod of his head before chiming in as well. “Perhaps. We could try our hand at getting all dressed up, and going out dancing or something.” It had actually been the Doc that inspired the thought; back when she teased him in her closet about having so many different outfits for him to try on. Now though, as the Marine watched the flick, he found himself honestly thinking that going out with her to dance and be all dressed up...well it didn’t sound bad at all. Before he could say as much though the blonde spoke up again, and that brow of his arched ever so slightly as John realized the implication of her words. “You met the actress before?”
--
“We go way back, actually. Well, not way back. Flirted a little bit, I suppose. She took me out for lunch once to a very posh cafe." Now that she thought of it, she had promised the actress to come back for a visit and never had - that was the Doctor's bad for sure. "She'd have liked you, I think. Had a thing for brown eyes." It didn't hurt that John was good looking in a lot of other ways too.
"I'd love to go dancing, by the way. Been a while since I've done the formal sort, but I think it'd be fun." She paused to think. "I think the last time I had a formal dance, I was human. Or did that time with River count?" River sort of danced for the Doctor, rather than with most of the time. Not that she minded - the Doctor couldn't help denying that River was particularly compelling.
--
There was no look of real surprise, beyond that single eyebrow of his slight remaining arched a tad. Yet as the Doctor spoke his full attention shifted to her; listening and smiling softly as he pictured Hepburn and the Doc at a Paris cafe. When she remarked about his eyes though a slight blush swept across John’s face, and the Marine chuckled aloud once more. “Well I...that’s uh…” Not really sure just what to say Grimm scratched his head for a second before trying again. “I’m sure it would have been nice to share a meal and a bit of conversation too.”
Hearing that she was interested in going dancing as well had that smile of his growing brighter, and with another nod Reaper made a mental note to see if any places around town actually had formal dances. The bit about the Doc being human wasn’t news, since she had mentioned it before. Sure he had no specifics exactly, nor had the man pressed with questions either since Grimm was never one to pry. Yet when the Doctor asked about the time with River all he could do was shrug a little. “If you believe it counts, then it does, Doc.”
--
She caught sight of the blush. She had to admit that she liked it when John’s face held colour like that. There was something about the man that was rather enthralling when he looked like that and her eyes lingered on him for a moment before seeming to focus again. “Did you dance a lot back home? Before you were a Marine.” She wondered how much John had lived beforehand or if most of his living was starting now. The Doctor had already made it her decision to have him experience as much as possible with her. She wanted him happy.
The Doctor opened her mouth to say something else, but John caught her foot in just the right angle and a little exhale of a moan where words should have come out sounded. It was the Doctor’s turn to blush and then suddenly she laughed softly.
-- The question of dancing caused John’s gaze to go distant as the man found himself searching through the memories of his past. That trek was far from pleasant since Grimm had experienced so much loss and pain. But in the end the former Marine had to shake his head slightly. “The last time I danced, not including dancing with you at the Hobbit party, was maybe when I was five or six. After my folks died...well the scientists there raised Sam and I. So most of the time was devoted to our education only, since none of them were really talented when it came to raising kids.” After he reached the legal age John had left the Mars base behind, enlisted in the Corps, and hadn’t really experienced much else beyond the life of a soldier.
Those dark thoughts and memories clung to Grimm for a moment, yet hearing that soft moan fall from the Doctor’s lips drew him back to the present quickly. With raised brow he glanced back to her, noting that blush and chuckling along when the blonde laughed too. Yet instead of stopping his massage Reaper gently lifted her foot up to his lips, and offered a playful little nibble on each toe before his fingers started to knead and massage her foot once more. Hoping to draw out another soft moan or two in the process.
--
When the Doctor saw John's thoughts turn, she regretted asking the question. It wasn't that she didn't want to talk about those things with him, but he had looked so light and happy only moments ago and now his thoughts were troubling him. The moan has been involuntarily, but it seemed that the moan 'broke the spell' though she was surprised when John lifted her foot up to his mouth.
She didn't make a sound when his lips met her toes, but she bit her bottom lips while watching him, the flush from before not leaving her cheeks. "You are really good at that." Somehow she doubted the military trained him in massage either.
--
With a warm bright laugh John shrugged a tad in response to her remark, before finally speaking up at last. Normally the man wasn’t one for sharing much about himself, yet for the Doc he was doing his best to be more open. “You can thank the UAC Marine Corps for these hands, Doc. Back in Basic we ran twenty miles a day, in full weighted gear, so by the time we got back to the barracks we were practically dead on our feet. I learned quickly that giving yourself a proper foot rub was the only way to survive.” The twenty week program had been insanely hard, yet that training helped shape Grimm into the soldier he would become.
Sure teasing her toes with the little playful nibbles hadn’t been something he had been taught. If anything the Marine just liked teasing the blonde, and the sight of her flushed cheeks was well worth the effort. With a wink Reaper did it once more, before chuckling aloud and turning his gaze back to the tv.
--
It might be one of the more beneficial things to come out of military training, if you asked her, though she didn’t say it outloud. While she didn’t approve necessarily of the standard military mind, it seemed she was always running into people who proved there was good there, misguided as it sometimes was.
The Doctor brought her attention back to the movie, watching the fall out of the theft. She had learned a lot time ago to disassociate movies with real life otherwise every time she watched a movie she'd be annoyed by how unrealistic things were. Instead she focused on people's capacity for imagination.
She only spoke again when the movie ended. She sat up a little more and looked back to John. "Did you like it? Have I convinced you movies and the like aren't so bad after all?" She was teasing about the second part, but she knew the man didn't watch a lot of stuff.
- As the film drew to an end the man watched on with real interest. The story had been engaging, the acting good, and in general John found it to have been quite entertaining. Oh he couldn’t imagine spending countless hours in front of a tv; watching one show after the next. Yet enjoying a film from time to time did sound like fun. Especially if the movies were good. And if there was popcorn, and the Doc with him as well.
When she raised the questions Grimm nodded anew, even flashing a grin her way before chiming in once more. “I did like it, and I’ve been convinced that this is a decent way to spend some time too, Doc.” The former Space Marine was a man of strict routines, yet he could easily see himself scheduling in a bit of downtime in the future to simply veg out on a couch with her again. “What about you though, Doc? Did you have a good time?”
--
“I did.” And she seemed happy that John did too. It was her opinion the Marine needed more things in his life to help him relax and to make him smile. “Haven’t met that many movies I couldn’t watch over and over again.” There were a few, but they were rare. One of them included the Judoon training video for new recruits - not a fun time at all.
She moved to stand up, pulling her feet from him gently and lifted off the couch. The Doctor knew better than to suggest another movie right after one to John, but she did have to get up to turn off the tv - one of the downsides to this particular living room. Not that the Doctor generally minded, but she had been quite comfortable.
“Got a surprise for you, if you think you can handle it.” She was smiling again, a little bit of mischief in her eyes. “Only requirement to get it, though, is you close your eyes.”
--
The talk of a surprise had that eyebrow of his arching anew in earnest interest, and when the Doc told him he needed to close his eyes John took a second to consider it. Before letting his eyelid close at last. There was no real hesitation, or any look of concern. After all she had already earned his trust, and so Grimm...despite not normally being a fan of surprises...smiled softly as he patiently waited.
--
The Doctor waited until John’s eyes were closed to move. When she was positive that his eyes were closed, she started to move. She tried to move quietly. She had the surprise ready, of course, but it took a few moments to set up. "No peeking." She voice light and not really demanding, though she hoped he'd keep his eyes closed until she was ready. There was the sound of moving furniture and the whirl of her sonic screwdriver.
"Alright, you can open your eyes now." She had managed to push the furniture aside and she somehow managed to be standing in a 1960s dress in the middle of the room with her hands on her hips. He had said he'd be interested in something like this and the Doctor could mostly provide. Sure, he wasn't in a tuxedo, but that was a small detail and the Doctor had wanted to surprise him. It would have been hard to surprise the man if he had to be part of it. "Feel like a dance, Mr. Grimm?"
-- Even with his eyes closed tight those enhanced senses of John’s still remained...though those keen ears of his didn’t help the man at all when he tried to suss out just what she was doing. The sound of furniture being moved was easy enough, but when the sonic device was used he winced a little at the high pitched noise. At last, when she told him to open his eyes, Reaper’s gaze fell on her fully. A spark of joy shining bright in his glance, as those eyes of his drifted across her figure. Taking in the sight of the Doc in that beautiful blue dress. Letting his eyes wander all while that grin of his grew.
When she asked him to dance the Marine was up in a flash, closing the gap between them in the blink of an eye. Hands wrapping around her body, pulling the woman close as Grimm nodded eagerly. “Of course I’ll dance with you, Doc. And might I add...you look stunning in this little number too.” There was no music just then yet the man swayed and slowly moved back and forth with her held close. Those brown eyes of his holding her gaze even as Reaper playfully winked her way once again. “You want to lead?”
--
The Doctor was not necessarily used to dresses, despite the amount of dresses she had in the closet. Dresses also often made it hard to run which was terribly inconvenient when you had a habit of finding trouble. However, she had a sneaking suspicion that John would enjoy seeing her in a dress for whatever reason and so she had chosen one after deciding on this little surprise Midway through the movie. "Glad you like it." Her smile widened. "The first time wearing one in a long while, actually." She was sure Graham would have a field day if he saw her, followed quickly by Ryan and Yas.
She placed her hands on his shoulders. She was used to leading, but the wink stirred something in her and she tilted her head a little. "Think maybe this time I'll let you lead, if you like." Her right hand smoothed down his arm toward his hand to take it in hers. "Music of choice?"
-- To say he was touched, and surprised as well, would’ve been quite the understatement. After all John knew that the Doc favored wearing a different style altogether, so the fact that she had worn a dress for him left the Marine’s heart thumping a bit faster. “Thank you, Doc. I...you look amazing.” This wasn’t the first time she had managed to surprise him by any means; first taking him to the hobbit party, ice skating, and simply sharing time with Grimm too despite having far better options when it came to company too. All of it spoke volumes, and at times like these Reaper wished he was far more eloquent, and capable of expressing how he felt.
As things stood though he just held her close, letting the Doc stand on his top of his boots as he slowly swayed them back and forth. When the question of music was brought up John actually looked uncertain, since music to dance to wasn’t really his forte. “Why don’t you pick the music, Doc.”
--
His second compliment left a warm smile on her lips. It was definitely worked in her favour this time and she made a mental note that on occasion maybe she could be convinced to change into something more like this. John was an easy motivator.
She made a soft humming sound as she considered music. It wasn't quite the same era, but she pulled away for a moment to grab her sonic which was on the pushed away coffee table - a downside of a period appropriate dress - and after a point and whirl toward the stereo in the room I'll Be Seeing You began softly playing from the speakers. The Doctor moved back to John, easily melding back into his touch.
There had been a number of songs she could have picked and yet this song was the first to make the way to the surface. She hadn't thought much about it until it started playing, but as they swayed, John in the lead, the Doctor felt a stir in her chest. She wet her lips as her gaze moved to his own. "John…" But whatever the rest of that sentence was, it didn't manifest.
-- Between the warmth of her touch, and her body pressing so close, Grimm found himself utterly spellbound by the Doctor in that moment. Just a month ago John never would’ve even imagined that he’d end up dancing. Let alone be in the arms of a woman, swaying to the music. That song she played drew a soft smile to his lips as the Marine found himself humming along, and despite never having really danced at all the big guy managed to avoid mucking it all up. Mostly thanks to his newfound agility and grace. Leading the dance was new for him as well; yet like everything else they had shared together John felt only excited about it all. And not awkward or worried that he would make a mess of things.
The sound of his name falling from her soft sweet lips drew that gaze of his at last. Seeing her desire, even though the Doc didn’t say another word, had his pulse quickening. With a little nod he leaned down a smidge, that mouth of his seeking hers out in a gentle gentle kiss. A kiss that started out almost chaste, but soon became far more passionate and searing with every passing moment. When the song finally ended, and another began, Grimm’s lips pulled away from hers. Allowing the Doc to catch her breath. He toyed with the notion of just continuing the dance once more, but the need for her...to touch and savor the blonde, won out in the end.
Without saying a word he took her hand and gently guided the Doctor to the couch. Once there he paused to take a seat, bringing her to stand before him, and those hands of his reached out to so faintly trace his fingers up along her bare legs. Teasing the woman playfully for a moment; letting his nails lightly rake up and down her inner thighs, until his hands slipped higher up beneath that lovely dress and so slowly started to slip off her panties. All while he looked up at her, never once letting his gaze fall from her own. “Think a bit of dessert sounds really good right about now, Doc...and nothing tastes as sweet as you on my tongue.” When her panties were removed at last Reaper reached up once more; this time using just a touch of his inhuman strength to hoist her up, and bring the Doctor to sit there on his shoulders. Legs dangling off the back of the couch, as the Marine’s head was nestled between her legs beneath the dress.. Grimm’s warm breath, and that wicked tongue of his, felt so slowly brushing across her womanhood, as his hand rested beneath her backside to keep the blonde supported.
