WHO: Adrian Ivashkov and Chloe Price WHAT: Movie Night WHEN: Saturday night WHERE: Adrian’s house WARNINGS: Nah STATUS: Closed/Completed Gdoc
On the nights that Sydney worked late, Adrian got bored. Adrian getting bored could be a rather dangerous thing, but he’d managed instead to make it into something innocent and fun - Movie Night. It wasn’t movie night with a lot of people, usually only one or two. He just liked to have a friend over and watch some stupid movies and eat some popcorn and pizza to get his mind off of things.Things like the upcoming art festival, which he’d agreed to show some of his work at. That wouldn’t be stressful if not for the fact that he couldn’t seem to come up with anything, no matter how long he sat in front of the canvas.
Tonight he’d invited Chloe over. He’d ordered pizza which was supposed to be there any minute, had chips and desserts and popcorn sitting out, and had his Netflix account up and running. All he needed was his movie buddie and they were in for a night of terrible movie goodness. Because what other kind of movies did you watch on movie night? Good ones? Pfft.
*** Chloe was kind of in the same boat in that Max had to work late as well. So like Adrian, she was bored because her significant other was busy and it didn't take much convincing for her to agree to come over for movie night. The fact they he was going to order pizza definitely helped in that decision.
Well, that's what she was going to say anyway. She wasn't going to admit it was because she liked hanging out with him, although he probably already knew that anyway.
Once she was ready, she headed over to his place and knocked on the door. Once he had answered, she grinned. "Alright, so what movie are we watching tonight?" she asked as she walked in, flopping on the couch. "And where's the pizza? I'm fucking starving."
***
“It’ll be here soon,” he said, rolling his eyes at her impatience. “I ordered it about a half an hour ago so it shouldn’t be too much longer.” He grabbed the remote. “As for movies, well, I’ve been looking through netflix for the worst movies I can find and I’ve narrowed it down to three.”
He scrolled to one.
“Vampires Vs. Giant Killer Rabbits.”
He scrolled to the next.
“Zombeeeeeeees: Stay out of the Hive!”
He scrolled to the last one.
“The Invasion of the Chihuawerewolves. Your choice.”
***
Chloe just glared at the eye roll, though there wasn't much behind it. She wasn't actually upset with him, even if she was hungry and impatient. "You should've ordered it sooner, then it'd be here by now," she told him.
She watched as he scrolled through the movie choices. "Hmm... let's go with the first one. I've always wanted to see giant killer rabbits." Though the chihuawerewolves sounded fun too, she figured they could always watch that for their next movie night.
***
“If I’d ordered it much earlier it would have been here before you. And then it would be cold. And cold pizza is gross.” He remained determined he’d made the right decision so that they could have hot pizza when it got here.
“Okay. Let’s start with the Giant Killer Rabbits and then the chihuawerewolves.”
Since they probably wouldn’t start until the pizza got there, he looked over at her.
“So how are things? Max good?”
***
"You have a microwave, don't ya? We could always just reheat it." Though pizze when it's fresh and hot (or as fresh as it can be delivered anyway) was always good, Chloe did like reheated pizza once in awhile. Especially when it was leftover pizza.
"Awesome," she grinned as she settled in. She hoped the pizza would get here soon, but in the meantime, she was good with chatting and catching up with Adrian.
"Yeah, she's good. Everything's good," she replied. Despite her casualness, there was something about her that said anything but. Things were more than just good, things were pretty amazing. So amazing that she was kind of terrified to say it out loud.
***
“Microwaved pizza has its place,” he said. “But so does fresh, hot pizza. And I’m in the mood for fresh, hot pizza tonight.” He knew she was going to have to wait a few moments, but he was also convinced that it was totally worth it. So.
“Just good?” he said, wiggling his eyebrows. “I think there’s more than just good here.”
He knew what amazing looked like, because that was how he was feeling with Sydney just about now.
***
"Fine, fine." She still didn't mind microwaved pizza but she supposed he was right. Fresh, hot pizza would always be greater than all other kinds of pizza. She was just hungry and it didn't help that she was impatient.
She tried to glare at him again but she couldn't pull it off as much as she wanted to. "I may have told her that I love her."
***
Adrian’s green eyes widened at that, and a huge smile came over his face.
“You did!?!”
He scooted a little closer to her, as if waiting to hear all the secrets. “You’ve got to tell me more than that. What did she say?”
***
As much as Chloe tried to act all nonchalant about it, she still couldn't help but smile when she saw the one on his face.
"Yes," she nodded. "I think I always did. And why are you acting like a forty year old mom who wants in on all the gossip?" she added, teasing him and laughing at the way he scooted closer. She couldn't quite blame him, though. She wanted to know about his proposal to Sydney at the time, though didn’t really act the same way he did..
"She said it back." Which, thank god she did. Chloe had a feeling Max felt the same but her insecurities told her different. "So yeah, things are fucking amazing right now."
***
“Because I do want in on all the gossip.” He grinned playfully. “I just can’t help myself. I live on this stuff.” At Court, gossip and rumors were power and he’d learned very quickly how to collect them.
“That’s amazing,” he said. “I’m so happy for you. I’m glad we can both be ridiculously happy together. Maybe we should have a double date sometime?”
***
Chloe just laughed, shaking her head. "You're so weird. Guess it's a good thing I like you." And honestly, she wouldn't have him any other way.
"Thanks." It was amazing and she was happy. Sometimes it scared her just how happy she was. She never thought it was possible, not after losing her dad. But it was what was happening and she tried her best to just enjoy it. "That would be awesome. Maybe movie and bowling? Or anything as long as it's not fancy."
***
“Sure. Movie and bowling sounds good. I’ll talk to Sage about it. She’ll probably kick all of our butts at bowling, just a warning. She does things like that. She’s good with...I don’t know, what is it, physics and all that?”
He shrugged. It was one of the weird things about Sydney that he loved. Who was he kidding, he loved everything about Sydney.
The doorbell rang, and he jumped to his feet, pulling out his wallet and going to pay.
“There’s the pizza. Get the movie started and we’ll get watching!”
***
"So I might have a challenger, huh?" Chloe was pretty good with games. Not the best but she could hold her own. Good enough she won some money a few times playing, at least. That and she was just competitive in nature.
"Yeah, I think that would be physics. And about damn time the pizza got here." She really had been starving and she was glad it finally arrived. While Adrian went to grab it, she grabbed the remote and started the movie.
