Some days, the multiverse was out to get you. Some days, it just decided you needed a break. And some days, you really couldn't figure out which was which.
This day was the latter for Merlin as he opened a door to buy some lunch for himself and the witch he was hiring for a job, and walked through, only to find himself standing in the middle of what was very much not a London store, but instead in the middle of a town square that looked more like something that was... vaguely familiar.
"Seriously? Why now? Fucking Multiverse!"
The door was gone before he finished even stepping through and he swore as he realized that in a not abnormal sequence of events, he had been kidnapped by Powers. But was it a hell or a heaven, or something else? Merlin was not sure, but he was going to find out.
With an oath in ancient proto-Welsh, he lifted his staff and strode forward, his robes shimmering and seeming to absorb light almost, his expression somewhere between angry and resigned.
And as he strode forward, he began to remember. His face went through surprise, anger, sorrow, and then joy, as he looked around, and spotted, coming down the street, the welcoming committee. He laughed as he shook hands with the mayor, who looked jumpy, and a new person he knew not. He took the usual items, listened to the spiel, and when they were done, he thanked them.
As they left, he turned and surveyed the place. Memories were rushing in and he was smiling as he nodded. Yes, yes, now he remembered. This place was one he had been to twice before. Apparently it really liked him.
Hmmm. He wondered who else was here. Still, or again, as it might be.
Either way, he grinned as he lifted the device he'd been given, and shuffled the rest into possibility to wait for his convenience. He needed to reach out. The rest of the day, he would wander from store to store, street to street, to sights both old and new, seeing what he could see of who was there and who was not.
He had a whole new-old world to get to re-know! And he was very, very happy to do so.
[ OOC: Find him anywhere, really, even pondering the front of houses or shops where your character works or lives. ]
