This town, this second chance at a new life, it was something that John wasn't taking for granted. Sure he was struggling a little to sort out just how to be retired after a lifetime of active military service. But even then the challenge of it all was something the man earnestly enjoyed. The Doc had become a part off it all, ever since she took his hand and pulled the Marine along for the ride. So from the moment onward Reaper knew he'd just roll with the punches, and let this shot to be happy pass him by.
The odds had been stacked against him from the start; the pain and loss of his parents, the bloodshed and violence he had been a part of while serving, and the isolation John had placed himself into before ever even stepping foot in this new world. All that, mixed with the fact that he was no longer human...it should've ended poorly from the start. But instead of finding hostility and disgust aimed his way, John found himself in the company of a woman who wasn't human either. One who knew pain and loss profoundly, but one who also hadn't let it all weigh her down too much.
So when the Doc apologized once again, and scrunched her nose as well, Grimm found himself smiling so brightly. That joke of hers had Grimm's heart thundering away within his chest for a second, and as shifted once again where he sat the Marine spoke up again. "You can always tell me whatever you like, Doc. I'm not one to judge, and I will always hear you out." It was hard to focus on his food just then, especially since his gaze was torn between her beautiful eyes and those soft lips of hers too. Still as his body warmed with need Grimm did his best to keep his attention fixed to her. "Well you're welcome to lie with me whenever you like. Though remind me to buy another blanket or two, since I already know that you like to hog the covers."
