Who: Fat Amy and Dorothy McShane Ace.
What: Amy gets a drink. Match-up.
Where: The Wyrm.
When: Friday, January 10. Evening.
Warnings: TBD.
Status: Closed | Match-up.

Amy was in need of alcohol tonight. And she was in need of a new location to have said alcohol. She frequented places like Verdant and Lou's, perhaps a bit too often for her taste. She had heard of the Wyrm before, but had never actually been there before. So perhaps tonight was the perfect night for a trip to the Wyrm. That is why she found herself there that particular Friday night in early January.

She approached the bar, considering what to order for her first drink of the night. Did she want to start off strong, go big or go home? Yes, that was definitely what she wanted to do. "A shot of tequila, please," she told the woman behind the bar. "And whiskey. Double." She nodded a bit at this, deciding that was the drink she wanted to start with tonight.

Or, rather, drinks.

She wasn't usually one to drink alone, but tonight seemed like as good a time as any to start.

Ace might be working as a bartender but that didn't mean that she was a good bartender. Mixed drinks, fancy names, she hated all of those and inevitably had to get a book out to show her what to do with them...and then just threw together what she could find if it was difficult.

"Oh good, straight drinks, my favorite." So when someone just ordered booze straight up it was a definite relief. "Waiting on others or a bad day?"

"I do appreciate a straight drink," she told the bartender. "Though if you would prefer, I can order a Mai Tai or something." She was teasing the woman, of course. She much preferred straight drinks to the fruity mixed drinks.

"Bad day," she decided. "Bad month, actually. The holidays are always difficult for me." Why she was telling Ace this, she wasn't sure. But the woman seemed like the type who wouldn't mind.

"Oh please don't. Unless you want something that only sort of resembles a Mai Tai." Ace laughed and put the drinks on the bar for Amy. "I'm new at this and to be honest I'm rubbish at it." She was nothing if not honest.

"Holidays are kind of the worst. Why are they so hard on you?" She didn't really have family, other than the Professor and the other companions now, so she didn't really like family oriented things.

"I don't know, now I want to see what you would end up making if I ordered a Mai Tai." She grinned at Ace, and reached for the shot of tequila. After downing the shot, she considered what Ace had said. "I suppose bartending just takes practice. I mean, you can't expect to be good at it from the get go."

She shrugged a bit at the woman's question, "I just miss home. And my friends. Not my dad, though. And Christmas just made me miss them more.'

"A mess. That's what you'd end up with." Ace snorted and leaned on her elbows on the bar. There weren't a lot of people in and she could take her ease if she wanted to.

"Well, I hated my mum so I don't miss her either. I do miss my mates but I haven't been back to Perivale for years so I don't really have it too badly I guess. But hey, drinks." She smiled and waved a hand at the drinks.

"A mess made with alcohol. Can you really go wrong with that?" Amy knew what the answer to that question was. If you were drunk enough, the answer was no. But she wasn't drunk enough at the moment.

"I used to not hate my dad. Then he kidnapped me and my friends because my mother left me some money. He wanted the money." She shrugged a bit at this. It wasn't that big of a deal, not here. Mainly because she couldn't use the money here.

She laughed softly, "Yes. Drinks make everything just fine."

"Oh yes. Trust me you can definitely go wrong with that." Ace laughed and made a face indicating that she probably knew that first hand.

"Well my dad was an all right sort. But he left after he and mum split up and she was a right bitch. We were just hammer and tongs and screaming my whole life." And yet...she'd missed her when she was gone and trying to visit her had gotten a planet she was in charge of wiped out by the Daleks so her mum had the last fuck you in the fight.

"Drinks are an amazing thing. At least until the next morning. Then I'm not as fond of them."

"My father was decent while I was growing up," she admitted. "But after my mum died... he became sort of a jackass." Of course, Amy had likely thought he was a decent sort because a lot of the time she refused to see his dick-wadery. She wanted him to be the alright sort of person.

"I'm not fond of them in the morning, either. But that never stops me from drinking too much the night before," she said with a laugh. "It's almost like... I forget what it's like in the morning." She shrugged a bit at this. "Like tonight. I don't care how I feel in the morning, as long as I feel good tonight. Does that make sense?" she asked.

"I don't really forget." Being a Time Lord had taught her how to see all these different times and experiences all at the same time so you didn't forget, you couldn't make stupid mistakes because of it.

You just made stupid mistakes for all new reasons.

"But I do remember what that was like. So it makes sense."
