Who: Aziraphale and Crowley
What: I honestly have no idea what's about to go down
When: After SOME little florist gets payback
Where: The park
Warnings: ....yes. Just yes
Six thousand years. Six thousand fucking years he'd kept it all to himself. Oh, he'd tried. He'd bent over backwards for that bloody angel time and time again and for what? Aziraphale had always been true and loyal to Heaven. And Crowley wasn't about to risk that, not when it was what the angel had considered safe. So he'd stayed back. Satan knew he didn't want to 'go too fast', no, that would be ridiculous, wouldn't it? So fine, he'd just continue moving at this snail's pace for another couple of thousand years if that's what it took. They weren't home, their equivalents of Heaven and Hell weren't even around. There was no Gabriel to bully Aziraphale back to their side, no Beelzebub to recall Crowley to Hell when they were pissed off at him.
And yet, snail's pace. So either Aziraphale wasn't ready, still, or... Well. The more likely option and Crowley knew it. What was it Lucifer had said? Why would an angel want to be with a demon? Yeah. He knew that speech. Had given it to himself literally thousands of times over the last few millenia.
But the moment he'd gone down the stairs and found the bouquet, he knew. He knew his carefully guarded annoyingly-sometimes-human heart had been bared. And honestly, he wasn't even mad at Klara. She was trying to help. Just as he and the valkyrie had been trying to do. But she and the kid hadn't been dancing their little dance for most of eternity.
So he did what he did best - he took the coward's route and ran for it, barely pausing long enough to grab a coat. If he could ever look the angel in the eyes again, he'd have to thank him for making him start using a coat rack.
He missed the Bentley something fierce at that moment, but he still could walk faster than most. It helped that this human corporation had ridiculously long legs. He found the park easily enough. One of the first places he'd come when he'd arrived. Which meant it was a shit hiding spot but then, he also sort of thought there wasn't a chance in Hell the angel would be coming after him anyway.
