"It's a good habit to have," she agreed. Cass didn't miss how Carolina didn't encourage her to take a trip or anything, which meant that was exactly what she thought. It wasn't the right idea to solve her problems. She knew that was true, much as she didn't want to admit it.
The bartender brought them a round of drinks and she took a long pull from her glass before she felt comfortable saying anything else. Sharing didn't really come easy to her these days, for better or worse. This was something she needed to work through, though. She trusted Carolina to listen, to be objective, and to understand where she was coming from before giving advice.
"I haven't told you much about my world. I'm a CDC doctor, you know that, focusing on virology. What I didn't really tell you was that Cole, the man you met? He's a time traveler who recruited me to help save the world. A plague is released, kills most of the world, and apparently he and I are the only ones who can fix that. Except he forgot the mission and insists on protecting those that are responsible for releasing the plague in the first place." It was clear she was aggravated by that, but she wasn't exactly trying to hide it. It was a safe space for her to talk about what was on her mind.
