Lizzie Bennet and Pepper
Lizzie hadn't felt this off balance since first arriving here. Lydia had shown up, and whilst that should have been cause to celebrate, or at least feel some comfort from, it was the opposite. Lydia hated her. She'd come from a time when she had every right not to think much of Lizzie at all. She hadn't understood her little sister at all, she knew that now.
But for Pepper, she was willing to put on a brave face. Pepper had been through far worse. She'd just lost her husband. And people said sometimes people came back, she understood this time his things were gone, and that wasn't a good sign. Lizzie couldn't imagine how much that must hurt. So she picked a table and waited for the woman to join her. She understood the need of distractions, and with all the kindness Pepper had shown her, she was happy to return the favour.
